Selling Bitcoin as a partisan political tool is both inaccurate and a short term strategy. Bitcoin is political in the sense that any disruptive technology will have political ramifications, especially one that disrupts money. But Bitcoin is not partisan. You can not ascribe to Bitcoin the social or even economic values of any particular political party. It is software; our values are still our job to uphold, Bitcoin will not fix that. Bitcoin has survived this long because it is nearly impossible for any one organization to control it. That is why it’s interesting, and why it can not belong to any particular political party. What can happen, however, is the creation of a public perception that Bitcoin is aligned with a particular party or movement. That has largely happened in the United States, and with that we get all the drawbacks of being a political football. Bitcoin ends up both credited and blamed for political changes it has nothing to do with. It becomes harder to explain or promote the technology to half the population, and we eventually face regulatory fallout when the other party returns to power. I can’t dictate what others think of this technology, but I need to make it very clear: Bitcoin is a global, neutral network. It is far bigger than any political party. Bitcoin fixes money, but it will not fix anyone’s political, moral, or social issues. We still have to fix those ourselves.

I was staying out of this particular drama, but it’s gotten too ugly to ignore. And here I’m not talking to the loud American political Bitcoin maxis; this is for everyone watching the chaos... I’m sorry. This isn’t the Bitcoin I fell in love with over a decade ago. The below is a very clear example of this growing attempt to twist and re-brand Bitcoin into a political weapon. Bitcoin is a global, politically neutral technology. These aren’t my values, nor those of my dear friends in the Bitcoin community, the events I organize, or the businesses I run and support. Please don’t think these hate-mongers represent all of us. I’m sorry this is happening. image

When people try to police my behavior by telling me that I’m not being ‘feminine’ I explain to them, sometimes not so kindly, that I decide what is and isn’t feminine and they don’t. And gents, I really think y’all should do this too. Men tend to get even more pressure to be ‘manly’ than women get to be ‘feminine’. If you’re male, then everything you do is masculine. End of story. If people try to tell you otherwise, politely inform them that they can get fucked. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Zuckerberg is an atrocious human being, but I tend to believe him here in this story from back in January. Government pressure to quiet people or remove info is a clear cut violation of free speech rights. It's wrong when 'they' do it, and it's wrong when your team does it.... cuz it's just wrong. image

We think we are all having different reactions to the same information, when we are actually having different reactions to different information. The algorithms know what you click on, they know what ‘team’ you are on, and they show you your teams version of an event. You are being shown different information than what others are seeing.

I am female, therefore everything I do is inherently feminine. End of story. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

It’s really, really important that men have close female friends, and that women have close male friends. I’ve had a lot of ugly and just plain fucked up experiences with men. Emotionally abusive relationships, sexual assault, etc. It would be very easy for me to slide into ‘man hating’. One thing that keeps me balanced, one thing that keeps me from sliding into hate, are the very close relationships that I have with men. When you are the shoulder to lean on for a man going through a breakup, or navigating a difficult time in his life, you get to see up close that not all the problems in the world belong to women. When you can be close enough to a man to have a deep understanding of his life and empathize with him, that inoculates you against developing hatred for those like him. And the reverse is true too. There are plenty of men in the world who have had and will have shitty experiences with women. And if they don’t have close personal relationships with women, they are far more likely to slide into hate. Deep friendships with the opposite sex inoculates against sexist hatred.

You really don't know what will happen, you never know, you can't know. Let go of the outcome and just focus on being a decent human being.

"The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending sons-of-bitches. For it is against sons-of-bitches that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all." - H.L. Mencken

When you bring up the misbehavior of a gov official someone is always quick to say "but the other side does that too!" And ya, if so then that is also shitty!
