Today I take control of keeping my computer clean of ALL leftover files, especially of iOS apps on a mac. I choose what stays and I choose what goes. So I came up with a little bit of shell scripting.
Do not believe those silly instructions like "drag the app from /Applications/ to Trash". Tip of the iceberg.

Next, I actually do need to clean my (white) keyboard. At least I think it is white... 😂

I was just thinking along similar lines. What if some malicious actor got a hold of my nsec and started sending spam from my account on #nostr. Would I have a way to reset the nsec? Like a password... @HoloKat any thoughts?

I shall not be defeated by a keyboard! #MagicKeyboard is all I should need, but I couldn’t understand how nobody online has figured out (at least that I could find) how to modify that top right Eject key without installing apps that might cause kernel panics or have other bugs. No, I had to figure it out.
Down the rabbit hole into HID usage codes and understanding what on earth are consumer one shot control keys as opposed to the normal keyboard keys… and I emerged into an alternate reality where I found the secret code to access that darn thing.
Now I control it 😈 Take that, #Apple.

Eject key - modify it! The super simple way
There is a way to assign any function to the Magic Keyboard Eject key, after all. No software to install, nothing much to mess with. Just a simple ...

In a series of me pushing myself to figure some things out to make my life easier in the command line universe, I wrote up how I have come to sync and copy files with rsync across drives. It’s one of those situations where I could never even try to remember the convoluted options.
But yay for command line and program aliases!

Rsync for making copies (command line)
There are so many uses and options with rsync, it’s mind-boggling. After some searching and manual reading, I arrived at a command that I use.
@ZBD is no more. So no social platform to look forward to?

@Coracle You really need a "Block" and "Report (public)" for spam users. I keep getting those automatic spam messages from Optimism. Iris.to has those options so every spam note I get I can click on that to report the user to relays. Spam is so stupid I can't believe anyone bothers to set up such sends. Done, rant over :)
I kept thinking and tinkering with how to make my keyboard work for me and not have me contort into some strange shortcuts. Here are my thoughts on that:

Keyboard goodness with Karabiner (or not)
There are a lot of possibilities to create useful and simple keyboard shortcuts with Karabiner Elements. Here are a few examples that I had fun set...
My recent discovery was how to keep a long and complex password on my password manager and still quickly paste it into the @Alby extension. FWIW

Hey@`NOAH` , is this your official Nostr account for the noah wallet? I didn't see it listed on your website (just twitter etc). You might want to add that so people know :)
So much has been discussed over the years, it seems, about the #apple Magic Keyboard eject button becoming useless. It's not an easy keystroke to track, it's not a normal key like the rest (it's an HID usage one shot control from the Consumer usage page). Imagine that. But to get to it, there are ways for every operating system. I decided to talk about it:

The useful Mac keyboard eject button
Apple stopped releasing keyboards with the eject button years back. But those keyboards are still perfectly useful and, in my opinion, one of the b...
