We need you back in #Bitcoin. #BIP110 was a heart-felt attempt to deny spammers, and many poured their hearts into the effort, convincing themselves that Core was evil and that they were killing #Bitcoin. Core is not perfect but they're the same normal people that have been working on #Bitcoin since Satoshi. This is the only #Bitcoin we have. We all hate spam, but you need to understand that there is no realistic path to policing the arbitrary bytes Bitcoin allows for without doing unacceptable violence to Bitcoin. Bitcoin supports arbitrary data in a myriad of ways, and #BIP110 would have only prevented one of them. #Bitcoin has been developed to support arbitrary data. That ship has sailed. There are too many ways to pack bytes into blocks. It is now part of Bitcoin's fundamental design. Do not give up and leave #Bitcoin. We need you, even Luke and Mechanic, back on the longest chain. Our shared enemy is in the Central Banking orbit, not in the Blockstream/Core orbit.

#BIP110 was the energy sink for restless, revolutionary angst. #Bitcoin is for the patient.

#Coinkite's claim that Odell's self custody guide protects against the USB REPL bug is nonsense. An attacker with physical access to an unlocked #Coldcard could simply plug it in and use the REPL, regardless of the user's setup method. Look at their disclosure: "After a successful login enabled the normal VCP+HID USB stack, a connected test host could send Control-C, interrupt the user interface, and enter the MicroPython REPL. That provided firmware-level Python access and could expose secrets available to the running firmware." They want you to believe NVK privately briefed Odell on a bug that never reached customers, warned that revealing details could enable remote theft of every affected wallet (impossible for a USB-only physical-access bug), and claimed Odell’s microSD air-gapped instructions would protect users—when those instructions do nothing once an attacker already holds an unlocked device and simply plugs it in. None of that tracks with the USB REPL issue. Every detail matches the entropy vulnerability that was already in the firmware being distributed.

"Oh hey Odell, I just want to let you know there is a big vulnerability in 4.0.0 that customers will never be affected by because we patched it before releasing. And by the way, you won't be able to steal any customer funds but I can't tell you in any more detail in case you steal customer funds. Also, customers that used your guide would be protected unless attackers exploit the vulnerability that I am definitely talking about." 😂 #Coldkite claims the vulnerability NVK confided with Odell about is a routine development flag for the USB interactive debugger which was left on and patched before the 4.X release went out to customers... What? 🙃 Nothing about that bug can me made to apply to what Odell said on his podcast, but ALL of the comments Odell makes can be applied to the entropy exploit, authored by Coinkite CTO under an alias, which went out only days before this Rabbit Hole Recap was recorded. 🔍 #Coldcard View quoted note →

I hate lies and deception. #bip110 was as dishonest as $bcash. Luke has disgraced himself. Repent.

Blatant deception by Luke and friends. ">97% of the network is ATTACKING." No, the network did nothing. You forked off. #Bitcoin remains. We never left. View quoted note →

"#Bitcoin will die if we don't upgrade to #BIP110." #BIP110's fear mongering attracted less than 3% of the network. #Bitcoin Core remains the longest chain. Luke+Knots has failed. 🗑️
