Robert Maxwell was a publisher who was involved in the educational publishing industry, notably through a joint venture with McGraw-Hill. In 1989 Maxwell's Macmillan Inc. merged with McGraw-Hill creating Macmillan/McGraw-Hill School Publishing Co.
This deal combined their educational publishing businesses, including elementary, secondary, and vocational education.
The new company was the 2nd largest textbook publisher in the United States at the time.
