This is just a short clarification (or a rant, if youโd like to call it that).
I somehow got caught in a heated discussion in the timeline, something I usually avoid, but since it involved Muslims, particularly the SunniโShia topic, I feel the need to explain my stance.
First, I appreciate brother
@ibn ruum for the reminder and
@Thayr for the sharing.
A bit about me: Iโm not an imam, ustaz, or scholar. Just an ordinary Muslim with a small family, trying my best to live by what I know. I donโt speak Arabic fluently, and even my English needs polishing, I even rely on AI to help with grammar and phrasing.
Most of what I know comes from what I learned growing up, local teachings, fatwas, and guidance from Malaysian scholars. Here, most Muslims follow the Sunni faith, Syafiโi school of jurisprudence, and AshโariโMaturidi creed. Thatโs my grounding.
Personally, I lean towards Syafiโi jurisprudence with some Salafi influence in understanding fiqh and tauhid. But I donโt claim deep knowledge, just a preference for how these schools explain matters.
That said, I want to be clear: I disagree with Shia beliefs and practices. I donโt consider them within Islam as I understand it. Still, online, I can tolerate their presence, the same way I can tolerate others with differing beliefs, as long as they donโt push it into my space.
So, if youโre Shia and you hold views that insult the Sahabah ๏ต, my beloved mother Aishah ๏ต, or excessively venerate Ali ๏ต, thatโs your choice, just donโt bring it to me, and we wonโt have a problem. Iโll stay neutral and civil. Iโm not here to debate religion; Iโm here, in Nostr, mostly for vibes and shitpostings.
Again, thank you, brother
@ibn ruum, for your advice, Iโll be more mindful. And
@Thayr, Iโll read your content and take what aligns with my understanding. Wisdom can sometimes be found even among adversaries.
And to brother
@Thayr, Iโm not sure if youโre actually Shia or not, we havenโt interacted that much. Still, Iโve learned to give people the benefit of the doubt and avoid quick judgement, so Iโll do the same here. I also respect and tolerate some Shia users who do the same for me, those who engage politely and donโt push their views into my notes.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and contributions.
Any errors or shortcomings in this rant are my own; the ultimate truth and what is best for humanity come only from Allah ๏ทพ.
Allah ๏ทพ knows best.
