Saw a post from @Ken Berry, MD either here or on Twitter wherein if you needed to lower your A1C for insurance purposes or whatever, donate blood, eat less sugar for the week before your test. I donate blood anyway to shed iron, so I did it last week, and then had the test yesterday,. My A1C went from 5.6 to 5.3. Was wondering if that was just a temporary gimmick for the sake of the test (not the reason I was doing it) or reflective of a more lasting metabolic improvement, i.e., if you donate every 4-6 months are you blunting the impact of glucose intake all the time?

Would be hilarious if the JFK files were such a nothing burger, but the Epstein files was everything plus 10x worse than anyone can even imagine. HIGHLY unlikely IMO, but would be an ingenious strategy to soften everyone up before dropping the bomb. Really think it cuts the other way unfortunately — if they can’t even deliver the goods on something that happened 60 years ago, odds they do it with something this seismic are low.

For most of the last five years, I’ve used a LOT of restraint when dealing with the narrative enforcers and normies who went along. It’s not my nature to be restrained — in a past life I would have gone to town on them ruthlessly, maybe even too far, maybe even said things I would later regret. But I had business partners, and I had family members and chose to keep it civil even when people were attacking me. But the restraint has taken a toll. I’m still pissed. I want justice. I want prosecutions. I want capitulation that the narrative was a fucking lie. Not this bullshit in the NYTImes where they pretend everyone was just “misled.” Bitch, you were the misleader, don’t rewrite history.

Going to write a longer essay on this I think, but there are two ways things get done: (1) Top down and (2) Bottom up. Another word for top down is fascism, no matter how benign-seeming. But there is one role for top-down and that is in creating the conditions for bottom up. The US Constiution is fascism in that it forces you to adhere to its edicts as the supreme law or the land (in the US). But it is a great boundary for creating the necessary conditions for free markets, free expression, creativity and prosperity to thrive. All governments are fascistic in that they all use force to achieve their agendas. But the best ones only use the minimum necessary force to create the conditions for bottom-up prosperity. There is no other kind of prosperity. . . . Goverments aren’t the only entities that are fascistic. Schools, coporations, instiutions and individuals are too, almost invariably. Yes, I am a fascist and so are you. Don’t believe me? Do you have a voice inside your head telling you what you must get done today, evaluating your progress as a person, critiquing and coercing you into doing things that are “good” for you and avoiding the ones that are “bad”? If so, you are a fascist. Why not just trust yourself to make the right choices? Why all the nudging and coaxing and gamifying? . . . The top-down edicts that rule are lives are by and large unnecessarily micromanaging and oppressive. Yes, we should create some good top-down conditions for bottom up organic thriving like buying healthy food at the market, getting fresh air, not consuming excessive amounts of alcohol or drugs, but the moment to moment micromanaging, the voice that constantly bosses you around, requires you to achieve something, that’s fascism. . . . The mind is obviously a powerful too when it comes to planning or doing math or following a cooking recipe, but if it can’t be turned off, if it’s not just optimizing your path from A to B, but optimizing YOU, that’s fascism.

Had to move some money inside the EU, but the bank limits how much you can do online. Considered going into a branch to do it all at once, but wife and I decided to do it piecemeal because we “didn’t want to wake sleeping dogs” even though what we’re doing is totally above board, legal and uncontroversial (paying a contractor). That’s how bad the bureaucracy is here — you don’t even want to encounter humans when you’re doing everything on the level because they might invent a reason to slow you down and make you jump through more hoops.

Just realized it was St. Patricks Day. Vividly remember ~30 years ago walking home in NY past a row of bars at around 5 pm and seeing a bouncer toss some wasted guy out and kick him square across the face in the street. Stuck in my mind as representative of the day.

Not going to say how I discovered this, but turns out New Jersey has a religious exemption for not being up to date on vaccines for venues that require them. There’s a medical exemption, which is onerous to meet, but the religious one is very simple and you only need state that you have it and do not need to elaborate any further. In fact if you do elaborate further, it might cut against you being able to use it. It must be *religious* only. Was thinking about this and realized — oh, they don’t really care if you take the vaccine, so long as you admit the reason you didn’t take it was because you were some kind of religious nut. IOW, they just want to own “the science” so by making you cop to religion, you can participate without invalidating their worldviews. The reason libs are so threatened by RFK is not because he questions the vaccine, but because he wants to investigate it *scientifically*. That is far more threatening to the whole project, the project of believing they were righteous and good and compliant, than people simply refusing to inject themselves due to God.

Hilarious thing happened today. Wanted to start playing more Padel, so I asked the guy at my daughter’s basketball/tennis club yesterday if I could sign up. He said show up tomorrow (Sunday) at 1:30, to enter a tournament. So I show up at 1:30 today, but he apologizes, said he did the math wrong, there’s no spot for me, but if I want to wait around until 3:30 there’s another one that definitely has a spot. In the meantime he gets three people to play with me for half an hour on a spare court while I’m waiting. So I wait out the other hour and half, then he sends me to the court to meet my doubles partner. She’s a 30-ish YO Dutch woman somewhere between attractive girl next door and movie actress. (I’m out of the game now, but any man would notice.) We draw two Asian women as our opponents, and it dawns on me I’m the ONLY dude in the tournament. Basically like the trans dude getting a leg up in women’s sports. I ask my partner, and she confirms this is a women’s tournament. But they apparently were one short,I had waited two hours, and the dude never told me! (Also keep in mind I’m almost 54 and have only played like 10 times in my life, and these women are way younger and play all the time for years.) We ended up making the finals and losing a close match. Think I might have played a little more sloppily at the end because I would’ve felt like a douche for winning a women’s tournament. But it was a good time.

Funny how libs suddenly discovered free speech, after cheering on "misinformation" propaganda for four years now that Trump is trying to deport a protester. And credulous Trump supporters are cheering the deportation because the government accuses him of supporting "terrorism". Has it not occurred to you yet that "disinformation," "supporting terrorism" "insurrectionist!" "threat to our democracy" "anti-vaxxer!" is all just shit the government says (and servile losers repeat) to get you to comply with its agenda? Now it's not really fair to do a "both sides" here because the libs have been 100x worse on this front, literally setting up a disinformation bureau and censorship industrial complex inside the government that took down social media posts for merely suggesting obvious truths like covid coming from a lab, the NYT calling the theory racist! But I point it out more as a warning: don't defend government propaganda like those compliant fools. If the protester is guilty of an actual crime (and not simply protesting and words you don't like), make them prove it. It doesn't matter if you agree with or like the guy. It doesn't matter if you support much of what Trump et al are doing. The government is not your friend. Hold it to account no matter who is in charge.

The Bill of Rights of which the First Amendment is a part is for DEFENSE against the US government. It's not some DEI inclusivity initiative. The ONLY reason the dude should NOT be deported is the USG doesn't have the power to do so IF all he did was protest and speak. Whether he's courageously protesting injustice, is an ungrateful hater or just a douche cosplaying for clout is NOT relevant. You should be against his deportation IF he committed no crime because DEFENSE against your own government is paramount, way more so than hearing something you don't like.
