I joined Twitter late in 2008, and remember trying to get people to signup and explaining why it was worth the effort. Engagement was low, follower counts were low, but the community was tight. You knew if someone was on the platform. NOSTR feels like that today. Early, fun, and the pressure for engagement almost non existent.

I see the media is now attacking Elon for successfully launching rockets for NASA. Did they forget before SpaceX and Dragon, NASA was fully dependent on Russia to launch our shit and astronauts into space?

It’s pretty incredible to hop on Nostr and see open discussions about different apps/interfaces no matter which one you’re using. Convos about Damus on Primal, or YakiHonne on Damus. It’s just one big open conversation, no matter how you’re accessing it.

Fun fact, the IRS paid $3.3 billion in “refund interest” in FY 2021. In other words, the IRS was so slow in processing refunds to some taxpayers, that they had to pay interest on those late refund payments. Those interest payments have only been trending upward. The IRS is broken but legacy media will defend it simply because “Trump bad” image

Reminder the last federal budget that ran a surplus was under Bill Clinton, and under Bill Clinton the federal government cut 426,200 federal jobs. Trump and DOGE are doing what has been long overdue.

It’s shocking that every single federal employee needs to be reminded that at any given moment they could lose their job based on performance or a lack of need. It’s the same thing in the private sector, the only difference is apparently the media will run sob stories on you if you lose your job in the federal government

The media has basically taken the stance that everyone inside the federal government does an essential job and their performance has been impeccable. There isn’t a single layout they haven’t cried foul over. It’s beyond parody

Watching elected officials try to fight back against the cutting of ridiculously wasteful federal spending might be one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in my political career. Trump and Elon have broken brains by simply saying “hey, maybe we shouldn’t be sending grants for transgender operas in Brazil?”

Hamas kidnapped children and took them hostage. That is not civilized behavior, and we risk setting a precedent that it’s ok and we will negotiate with this behavior.
