27 years ago today, I went to my first punk rock show.
I saw The Bouncing Souls at a venue called Tramps in New York City.
In the years that followed, I learned from that band, as well as many others in the DIY music scene, how important the spirit of doing things without permission is.
These bands put out their own records, booked their own tours, and wrote their own music - music than emanated directly from the depths of their hearts.
Without having gone to that show and gotten involved in the punk rock / hardcore / DIY scene in the years that followed, I don’t think I ever would have truly grasped what #Bitcoin and #Nostr are and why they are important.
I’m immensely grateful to all the bands and people I learned from in that scene, as not only did they help me find my purpose earlier on in life, but they primed me to notice and embrace two of the greatest technologies for human flourishing ever created.
So, on this Thanksgiving Eve, I’d like to thank the Bouncing Souls, the punk rock community worldwide, and, of course, all of you in the Nostrverse who carry on this spirit of permissionlessness.
Onward 🫡

I sat down with @Sjors Provoost at @Bitcoin Amsterdam to discuss what we can learn from the #TornadoCash trials both in the U.S. and the Netherlands as well as the outcome of the #Samourai case.

Last night, @PUBKEY launched its second location, based in the heart of Washington, D.C.
The new venue, which will also serve as the home base for the @Bitcoin Policy Institute, is a bigger, bolder version of the more modest, yet beloved, NYC institution.
