Bitcoin is a human right since it is the only money in the world that is not corrupted. It is not under anyone’s power. It is free and inclusive of all people. It is very convenient and has a good store of value because of its blockchain. It involves everyone. Most of all, its power is in the hands of everyone who takes part in it.

Why Support Girl Think Initiative in Promoting Girl Child Education as a Fundamental Human Right Girl child education is not a privilege ,it is a fundamental human right. Malawi is a landlocked country where about 80% of the population lives in rural areas. In many of these communities, extreme poverty is the norm. Girls grow up without knowing that education is their right. Most have little to no knowledge of human rights or sexual and reproductive health, and as a result, many are forced to drop out of school, marry early, and continue the cycle of poverty. These girls face daily hardships, lack of safe drinking water, poor sanitation facilities, food insecurity, and limited access to basic services. For generations, this reality has been passed down from mothers to daughters, leaving very few opportunities for change. Girl Think Initiative exists to break this cycle. Through education, community engagement, and Bitcoin financial education, Girl Think works to empower girls and their surrounding communities. Our first goal is to ensure girls stay in school or return to school. Our long-term goal is to equip families and communities with financial tools and knowledge that enable them to sustainably support girls’ education. By combining girl child education, human rights awareness, sexual and reproductive health education, and Bitcoin powered financial inclusion, Girl Think Initiative is creating hope where it has been absent for generations. Supporting Girl Think Initiative means investing in dignity, education, and a future where girls are empowered to thrive.

Bitcoin is not fiduciary. It doesnt depend on an institution or a central government for it to be money. This means Bitcoin is money with an intrisic value. Its importance, its value doesnt depend on anyone .

Fiat currencies are easy to use but unfortunately they are easily devauled by entities controlling them like governments. This destroys the whole purpose of money to store value and ofcourse protect the dignity of people using it.

A lesson from this years African Bitcoin Conference. My husband recently went on a business trip to a Bitcoin Conference in Mauritius. One day he called me and said, “Iiih Thandi, nsaname, I’m so inspired, and at the same time I feel like many of us take things for granted.” He then told me about a young man he met, someone from a country where rebels constantly invade villages. People there are forced to move back and forth, hiding in the mountains just to survive. My husband said that even when they met at the airport, you could tell the man came from a poor family and a very humble background. But through his hard work, he managed to attend this business trip and experience something life changing. This young man is learning programming and coding. To study, he walks almost 2 kilometres to do piece work so he can buy data bundles for the internet. He borrows a laptop from a friend in the village just so he can continue learning. And that dedication is exactly what got him noticed. The organisers saw his commitment and invited him to this big conference. Now back to what my husband was reflecting on. He said, “Thandi, it’s sad how so many young people I know back home take for granted the resources we have in Malawi. We have no wars, and many young people especially in urban areas have access to phones, internet, and computers.” Look at where this young man is coming from his village is constantly affected by conflict, people are displaced all the time, yet he still works hard. He told my husband that because they have grown up knowing they are underserved, they make it a point to push themselves even more.

Bitcoin wasn’t created out of greed like many currencies throughout history. It was born from ideas ideas about humanity, dignity, and empowerment. It emerged as a tool for social movements, designed to offer people liberation and freedom. Bitcoin was created to remind us that money carries philosophy, and that the relationship between people and money is deeper and more meaningful than we often recognize.

Bitcoin is a protocol and a monetary system that completely changes the way people think about money. It is then good to understand this relationship between bitcoin unit and people if one has to become financially free and enjoy the freedom, dignity, power and joy this technology brings.

Why should Bitcoin technology be treated as a basic need especially in developing countries? Because Bitcoin represents freedom. Freedom of expression, freedom of action, and freedom from systems controlled by central authorities who can make decisions that negatively impact millions, especially the less privileged. Too often, these authorities do not protect people’s dignity. Instead, they limit opportunities, reinforce inequality, and suppress potential. Bitcoin challenges this. It removes the cultural expectation that a person’s future depends on someone else’s power. It is global, open, and accessible. It gives individuals a real sense of purpose and encourages people to aim higher. For girls, Bitcoin can build confidence and open doors to opportunities previously kept out of reach. For women, it offers financial independence, power to provide for their families, nurture their homes, and stand firm in society. By empowering women economically, Bitcoin can help reduce gender-based violence rooted in cultural and financial dependency. Bitcoin is equity. It is a tool that shifts power back to the people and that is why it should be treated as a basic need in places striving for real development and lasting change.

Why is Sexual and Reproductive Health education important in public primary schools, especially for girls here in Malawi? Many girls grow up without proper knowledge about their bodies, their health, and the resources available to support their well-being. Without this information, they struggle to stay in school and remain confident during a very critical stage of their development. At this age, girls need guidance, motivation, and career direction if they are to progress to secondary school and eventually college. When they understand their bodies and their rights, they are able to make informed decisions that protect their future. As part of promoting girl child education, Girl Think Initiative conducts Sexual and Reproductive Health sessions in schools. These sessions empower girls with the knowledge they need to stay healthy, stay safe, and stay in school.
