Story time: ๐Ÿ˜… So, yesterday we got out before the rain started because we needed to start making some money, and we were getting close to out of food! At the end of our property is a wash, and that area was still muddy from last flood 2 days prior so even though I had build up and reduced the grading of that section, we sunk deeper than our clearance so we had to dig ourselves out just to leave. The rest of the road into town was relatively dry, but there were definitely more washes across it! It never rained in town, but it was supposed to rain around 5pm, and apparently it had! Route 66 next to our land had been flooded to the point where big pieces of pavement had broken free and gotten destroyed so they closed the road. When we got there at around 10:30pm, the road was still closed so we tried going our normal way more, but reached the corner where 3 floods meet and half the road still had water on it! It wasn't running anymore, but it was definitely still very wet! We tried going up on the side and around the inner corner *yes they just cut the road down into the ground more and more as they fix the wash boarding! However, 2 cars were already stuck ahead of us, so hubby walked the land to see if there was anywhere that was dryer, but when he came back he told me that even if he found one spot, the rest of the way seemed kinda sketchy and he wasn't sure we'd even make it down to the road! Not to mention the fact that the road seemed to have gotten fully flooded at lease in one section rather than just the one side like it's often been. So we tried leaving, but oh, that wasn't as easy as just to go! There is a wash we need to pass and it had washed away the bottom so there was kind of a lip and then a muddy dip before going up the other side. We kinda flew over it on our way there so we weren't about to try that again kn the other direction! So we went back and considered if maybe there was a way passed the stuck cars at which point one of them got loose and went to the wash. Then we gave up on that direction and went back towards the wash and met up with that newly freed car. Them and I'm guessing their friends on the other side (there were a lot more people and vehicles than had left that stuck section) they were trying to close that section and someone found some big particleboard or something so they put those pieces across that muddy section, and then they sent it! Oh, and while they were figuring that whole thing out, we ate our ice cream for dinner, cause that needed to be eaten ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿค— After they tried it, we went as well and it was a little sketch but we made it back out! ๐Ÿฅณ Then we went and hubby chatted with the guy on 66 blocking the closed road and that's when we found out about the fact that the road had washed away some and they needed to repave it and they'd been there since around 5pm! It was now around midnight! So we went to a gas station and I cleaned out the eggs that we had that had cracked when we went over that bumpy wash going into the dirt and flood area! I think only 4 eggs had broken so not all were casualties! ๐Ÿค— Then we went back to the blocked road, went to the other side of the intersection where people had parked for the night, waiting for the road to open. We tried sleeping in the front seats but I have a carseat behind my seat so I had very limited leaning ability! I may have slept for about an hour when I woke up around 1:30 in discomfort and saw some vehicles with equipment leaving the closed road, but the block was still there! Then I moved the carseat, got our son out of it, and leaned by seat back and then finally i was able to relax some. Oh, and I needed to pee again around this time ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜… Then I fell asleep until about 3:30am when I started seeing some movement. The vehicle that had blocked the road looked like it left and some of the cars around us started turning on their engines! I turned and saw how at least one of them was blinking left, the direction the closed road had been, so I said kinda quietly, "I think the road is open" and my hubby woke up and heard me and got up! I then put the carseat back and out our son in it and then went back to the front seat with my hubby and then we left. We drove for a but and then came to warning construction signs. Something like, "No road markings for the next X miles", "reduced speed ahead", and such. Well, we didn't see any new pavement, but the road was covered in clay and we slid some even at 35mph so the reduced speed was a great idea! Then we found the northern entrance to our side of the tracks, which is all dirt but is a legit road under the train tracks! Unlike last time we tried going home that way and it was all dry there, this time that section was wet. It wasn't washed out but had clearly had some water on it! The closer we got to our area, the worse the streams across the washes were, but nothing too bad. We made it all the way back so we could see our place. However, instead of risking trying to go up that section we had needed to dig ourselves out of when we left before the rain, we decided to pre dig the top layer of that mud out of the way. Unlike the other day when everything flooded, it didn't seem like out section of land really flooded, as the boards outside our motorhome were still in place, and they move with the smallest amount of water cause they're lose short wooden boards! (Yeah, I ran home and used the bathroom before helping hubby with the digging!) So we cleared some of that and then hubby felt more comfortable trying it with the car. We also went to the side of the normal road where all the thick mud was that we sunk into when we left was, and it seemed was more solid on the side! We made it all the way home ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ We had our "dinner" at around 4:30am, and saw the sun coming up! Then I crawled up and slept until past 10am when hubby brought our son over. Now it's mostly clear skys here so that is great! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅณ Thanks for reading! Hope you're having a great day!๐Ÿค—
Waking up to another day of overcast and potential rain. We've been listening to a realtor in Wyoming who has commented many times that one of the reasons people don't make it in Wyoming is because of the wind. Picking your trashcan up from the neighborhoods yard or having the door slam on you while loading groceries can be too much for some. Well, we already live in a windy place. The weather app frequently shows wind instead of sun or clouds in our area, and dustnados and dust storms pass us by sometimes on a daily basis. The flooding is different! Wind might move something and make something harder, but it doesn't destroy roads, make roads into mud baths for the car to get stuck in, and threaten to wash away all your stuff, eroding the ground you're relying on to stabilize your stuff. So, yeah, Wyoming having heavy winds sounds amazing right now ๐Ÿค—
After the flood yesterday the ground is still wet so even if I fixed some of the flood damage so there is no longer a huge drop across the road, we still couldn't leave today cause we'd likely just sink! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Next time we do leave, we'll probably bring a shovel, just in case ๐Ÿ˜…
I already thought flies were disgusting and annoying, but they have just fallen to an even lower level, I don't even have words for it, they they basically just need to stop existing now. Yeah, if I had the infinity stones, I might just have them all disappear. I don't really wanna kill them all, and I know they ha e some kind of role, but when I leave some eggs out to cool for my son and one of them spirts out tiny larva on them, they have now not only offended and disrespected me, but also threatened my son! No to mentioned the fact that I may not have even known if I hadn't walked back just in time to see it happen
The difference between hubby and I when it comes to our son learning to do new things sometimes comes down to me going: "oh but that edge hurts if you slide over it so I wouldn't wanna do it, and neither would I want my son to", hubby: "you can do it! You got in, you can get out! You can figure it out, I believe in you" Not sure he actually says all that, but basically, he doesn't have the same pain aversion as me ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜…
Sooo... leaving the oatmeal within teach of my son while leaving the room and not saying anything to my husband was less than ideal... Hubby saw it after our son had the spoon and oatmeal all over the place, started to clean it up, but still left it within reach, then came back as our son had another big handful of oatmeal! Now he's playing in the shower that had a tiny hit of water left in a corner, and now oatmeal pieces all over ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ but he's having a blast! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
Oh, I'd love to have one of these! I used to have something similar as a kid and I absolutely LOVED it! The plastic high chairs I've been seeing lately are so unappealing to me that I'd rather just not have one at all ๐Ÿ˜… image
Things I've learned about having solar power as the only power: - It can be built out modular, add panels, add batteries, add charge controllers, and they don't even need to be the same. - Batteries need too have the same "numbers" but not brand, - Panels will reduce to the lowest output but can be mixed in different sized strings in series and parallel until they give out maximum power, - charge controllers can be different brands and sizes as long as they output the same voltage as the batteries - some charge controllers have a lower voltage limit so if it's overcast and you don't have enough panels, they might not charge even if it's daytime! - so having a couple of different charge controllers to the same batteries can mean you get some power even on a rainy day! - the inverter is the real issue! If it's 3000w, and you reach that limit, it's a lot bigger hassle adding inverter capacity (this is how much power you can use at any given time) - if you're running too much, it will shut down the system! - if you run out of power, you'll need to wait until the next day to get more, unless it's overcast and you don't have enough panels! - you actually need panels hooked up or else your batteries won't get charged even if it's sunny outside! - broken panels can still produce! - using solar power is decentralized power ๐Ÿ˜Ž you can bring it wherever you go!
We got some mandu (Korean food) the other day, and we need to go get more... like, "How much can we fit in the freeze? Plus one more bag to have directly." That's the exact amout I would like to get right now! ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜Ž
I tried making a video but Nostr didn't let me, so here's a picture of the flooding we're experiencing! It was even worse a bit ago! ๐Ÿ˜… image By the way, we don't normally keep a shovel under our car! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคฃ
My kid started helping me with Duolingo yesterday and today! He's 11 months old and just learned that he could press the green button for complete, after I press all the words. ๐Ÿ˜ŽLearning Korean though. View quoted note โ†’
My mom just told me that my brother had gotten a new graphics card so he could play some game rather than mine... I was like, "What, you can do that? But you don't get any money off of that?" ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ *He doesn't stream himself playing. Though apparently he did consider lending it out to my dad's mining if it gets really cold this winder and he wants to use it for extra heat ๐Ÿ˜Ž As long as we get paid in Bitcoin, we can lend out some GPU power to those lesser coins ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‡
I just woke up from a dream where Taco Bell and Starbucks was the same company and someone had decided that they now serve alcohol, and Taco Bell had a commercial where they usually sold a gallon of lemonade but now they'd also sell a gallon of wine in the same plastic container ๐Ÿคฃ
Okay, so, I get it now why some couples have 20 kids... our son is starting to look like a boy instead of a baby, and he's not even a year old yet ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ‘ถ
I just did the things I do to our son to my hubby and man did he laugh! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค— it was glorious! Our son on the other hand was kinda indifferent when I did it ti him ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜…
So this morning my son saw a dead bug on the floor and tried to pick it up but missed and was liiking at me while he slowly moved his empty hand towards him mouth. I told him, "we don't eat the bugz", and then he realized the bug was still on the floor, he reached down his hand again, got a hold of it this time and very quickly moved his hand towards his mouth! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I practically three myself forward and managed to get my fingers in between the bug in his hand and his mouth ๐Ÿ˜…, ooh crisis averted, I took the bug out of his hand and threw it away! We won't be having any blue haired bug eating vegans in our household if I have a say, and I do! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅณ
This morning, our son was standing against a box, and I encouraged him to walk to me. He turned, took one step forward, found his balance, and then took another one and fell on his butt. But he he doing it!!! He's getting closer and closer to walking everyday! It's so fun to watch! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘ถ
When the judge hit that gavel my whole body began to shake in relief. I'm glad there was a bench outside the courtroom I could use cause I was having a hard time standing! View quoted note โ†’ Now I hope the criminal side sees reason and dismisses the case too!!! ๐Ÿ™„
