Do we need more advanced computer chips, radios, etc.? No. But the military does, because better power efficiency allows stealthier micro-camera-transmitters and stuff like that. So they don't let you buy a phone that lasts 10 years with a giant battery at a good price. They make you buy overpriced short lived phones with tiny batteries, to make you want the next newest most power-efficient thing, with 5G or 6G wireless. They don't let the prices go down at full speed on hard drives, RAM, graphics cards, etc. All for their surveillance state, to control you in service of child predator war criminals
