My mom has smoked cigarettes for too many years and now she's running out of time. She also quit cigarettes in the past and started smoking again as a punishment for me and the abusive guy she made me spend a lot of my childhood with who wasn't my dad. For something he did that I participated in as a kid, don't remember what, probably an argument about politics or something. Restarting cigarettes is a pretty psychotic punishment and really makes me not want to offer much comfort in her final years. I also just don't have the mental bandwidth to process worrying about her dying while I don't know if Digit is alive. Digit might have committed suicide BECAUSE OF ME, it might be my fucking fault, failures that were actually mine as an adult, not some psycho committing suicide to punish me for nothing as a kid. I also understand that when parents die, we regret not being better kids for them, or being there for them more. I know that's going to fuck me up for the rest of my life, but I still DON'T HAVE the bandwidth to do anything about it while I don't know if Digit is alive. I cannot make myself be nice to my mom all the time or stop myself from cursing and yelling at her, and I cannot stop myself from being fucked up for the rest of my life knowing how much of a failure I am. I'm not asking for advice, you cannot help me if you cannot prove Digit is alive. The only useful purpose this post could serve is if it impacts how many cigarettes someone smokes, but I doubt that will happen because generally I just yell into the void, no one listens to me, and there is no useful purpose to me trying to talk.

I'd take it much easier on nostr devs if they didn't seem malicious, but it would only take 1 day for any nostr client operator to make a lightning-free version of their app, and instead we've gone years with me continuing to say it would be a good idea. And nostr devs that don't run clients could at least be reposting my posts more, but instead we go years with me just yelling into a void.

Ever since this machine started crashing all the time I've wondered if it's infected with additional malware, and of course my Android phone is probably less secure than desktop Linux, so if it is infected, the phone is probably infected too. Malware aside from Firefox could re-enable Firefox's automatic updates by force, even if Firefox made the "disable" button work properly. That doesn't feel likely, but I can't rule it out. Even if true, Firefox (and extension, and Linux itself) devs share blame for continuing to rely on an easily-bypassed button with no security improvements 56 fucking years after the UNIX epoch, multiple years after the release of ChatGPT, more than a fucking decade after shit like Intel Management Engine became common knowledge... "Disabling automatic updates" in Firefox in this day and age should mean having a version of firefox that's incapable of automatic updates, so the malware has to modify the whole program to update it, not just click a few buttons to activate shit that's already there.

In light of this bullshit, nos2x-fox will not be added back to my Android phone or future phones. I'll keep the desktop version until it fucking ignores the fake "disable" button and forces an update on me.

This is nowhere near the first time the nos2x-fox dev has done unacceptably incompetent shit with my nos2x-fox installs. This is software for holding a private key, not fucking around.

To be clear, at a fucking minimum the nos2x-fox dev made the mistake of trusting the fucking firefox update system 56 years into the UNIX epoch while developing a fucking firefox extension. That's unacceptable. Yet another example of nostr devs being grifter glowies. And before someone accuses me of making the same mistake, "while developing a fucking firefox extension" is the key part, and is missing from my case.
