BTC Core download had reached 70% today on my old vintage computer. It is not moving anymore. So now i have started syncing on my new machine and i will transfer it to the old machine when it is operational. Looks promising. Should have done it a long time ago. The boy was quite excited about his gift. He got a crazy amount of cash, not a single ounce of silver, and 500,000 sats. We sat together for a little while. I showed him my Coldcard Q, and he installed Nunchuk on his phone. We imported the wallet to his phone, and he got to see his sats. I told him a bit about the basics. He can watch and receive for now. Today is the day my nephew gets his first BTC, and hopefully begins his learning journey. I’ve concluded that 500,000 sats is an appropriate amount. It’s a lot for me to give, but he is my nephew after all. Since I’m gifting on-chain, I wanted it to be a decent sized UTXO for the future. I’ll download the wallet app on his phone so he can view it for now, and I’ll keep a backup of the seed. I’m using the Coldcard Q with Nunchuk, fantastic hardware paired with fantastic software. In time, I’ll leave it up to him, if and when he can reassure me that he understands what he’s doing and has learned the ins and outs. #bitcoin #gift #nunchuk #coldcard #man

Got a nephew who is soon to be a man. Going through confirmation next weekend. Back in the day, people gave silver at baptism and confirmation. They knew about inflation back then. They knew why. Sorry for the long post, i promise its interesting! I got into a discussion at work today with a woman in her 50’s and some guys i work with. She works as a project manager at the firm. We have spoken on several occations before. Today, in a group of 5 grown ups, me included, we got onto the topic of banking and intrest. Here is a quote from me: «Dont you find it strange, that when you go into a bank today to get a morgage. You are not really loaning money right? Its not like its sitting in an account at the bank, and is moved from them to you? Right? When you get a «loan» today, the money is brand new! Like, it dident exist at all before you went in there. They just wave their wand, and poof, where there was none, there now is plenty» And they all started laughing in my face. What a moron to think such a thing. I tried to say «that is acually how it works» They laughed more. The woman: «I am on the board of a bank, thats not how it works. Ofcourse the bank has money» The four of them almost convinced me i was wrong. I just said. «I think you need to check some facts about how banking works» And left. They kept laughing. This woman tho… She is acually on the board of a small local bank here in Norway. And she has no idea how banking works. As i get older and start to see more of how the world works… like.. how?
