You write well, and this helped me, a distant foreigner who sees only the filtered news, understand, even if only a little, the messy complexity of this war. Keep writing, even if few are reading it at this time. Someday the world may need your voice to understand what really happened during these grim years.

This article is well worth reading, especially if you have some education (even informal) in physics. I think it provides a valuable perspective on the BIP-110 debate as well, regardless of which side you're on. It certainly helped me, a relative newcomer, understand SegWit better. There is a certain brand of "bitcoin through the lens of physics" writing that tends towards crackpottery and abstraction to the point of nonsense, but this is not that. Highly recommend. Concrete, steel, and the products of the industrial revolution generally, can become oppressive in the excess, as they are for me, a city-dweller. But they are also testaments to the singular brilliance and ingenuity of our species, and for that reason I still love them, even if I wish to escape them somewhat. image

#asknostr Noticed that none of the people I followed on Primal recently actually stuck. Did some tests. I would go to a profile, hit "follow" and then the button would switch to "unfollow." So far so good. Go back to feed, then return to same profile, and it once again shows the button as "follow." I could repeat this process as many times as I wanted and the follow would not stick. Go to Wisp, no issues, follows stick. Anyone else have this problem or know what causes it? Thanks.

Mom smoked cigarettes. It wasn't healthy, and it may or may not have contributed to her breast cancer, but it was part of who she was in that way that lifelong vices can sometimes be. Sitting on her patio late last night after a few drinks, remembering her life and her quirky personality, my wife, my sister, and I each smoked one from mom's final, unfinished pack of cigarettes. It was one of those tributes that makes no sense, logically, but makes all the sense in the world, emotionally. Another way of saying goodbye, after we had said our last goodbyes at the hospice. Love you mom. You raised a couple of weird kids. We'll miss you ๐Ÿ’™

Recently saw an old aquaintance of mine who was in town and staying at our place. We used to be friends, but that would be too strong a word now. Nothing happened, we just grew apart as our different values took our lives in different directions. My wife seems to get along better with her now than me. She was pretty open about her drug use, and she left her bag on the bathroom counter, wide open. I didn't snoop, but standing there washing my hands, I couldn't help seeing the five or six transparent orange prescription pill containers in there. From what she told us, it must be some combination of anti-depressants, sleeping pills, and probably some secondary pills to counteract the side effects of the primary pills. A couple of the familiar little containers, about the size of an old film cannister for those who remember them; the kind I'm used to from the handful of times I've been recovering from surgery or taking antibiotics. Some bigger containers as well, what could accurately be described as jars, containing literal hundreds of pills. These are not temporary measures just to get through a rough patch. This is her life now, what she ingests daily just to remain normal, or so she believes. You walk around the world meeting seemingly well put-together people, with no idea what kind of complicated chemical scaffolding some of them rely on just to keep from collapsing.
