I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this.
I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.

Todays garden pic is Red Hot Chili Peppers. These are some sad looking plants, I am not sure why all my peppers look so sad, but none of them stand up straight, some of them are just lying in the dirt, but there’s flowers galore. This is one of those we’ll see if I get anything crops, lol

Morning garden pic is some sage. I didn’t want to put this in the garden bed & will likely tear it out at the end of the season. I had it in a raised planter that collapsed on us, so it is maturing here.

Morning garden pic is a bush bean flower. I’ve never done these before, I usually go for pole beans so these are a new experience for me, they look good. Kinda excited

Todays garden pic is comfrey. I’ve never been able to grow this before so this year I just threw a few seeds in a sideways cinder block that I use as a planter. This year it worked! I have 3 or 4 of these around.

Todays garden pic is nasturtium! Unfortunately it showed up in a corner that was pretty crowded already, maybe I’ll just toss it in some salads, it’s very tasty.

Todays garden pic is amaranth. I planted this just cuz my AI told me to & I don’t really have a plan for it. It came up with some weeds & I couldn’t tell the weeds from the amaranth so I let them grow together. Last weekend I decided experiment was over, yanked the vast majority of it out & put beets in its spot. I left a few, here’s a pic of one.

Todays garden pic is a bed that hasn’t done too well. I had some nice successes early on, but have been growing mostly weeds. I pulled the vast majority of weeds out Sunday & put in some beets & red leaf kale. I filled in some spots with a purple bean next to my other beans, but this is a well see bed.
