today was good. woke up at 7:30 which for me is basically sleeping in. my body's used to 5am so this felt rebellious or something
worked a little, finished around 1. took the kid shoe shopping cause the new school year is right there, you can feel it coming
wanted steak so we went to a steakhouse. it's been a minute since we did that. nothing fancy, just a table and food and being together

and then later, that's when it happened
rode bikes with my wife and kid into the evening and the sky just exploded
orange and red everywhere over the water, everything silhouetted, trees going black against all that fire
the kind of sunset where you stop pedaling and just stare cause it doesn't look real
we didn't say much. didn't need to. just wheels and breathing and the sun going down
it's weird, the moments that actually hit you never feel important while they're happening. you just look back later and realize, ok that one mattered
and it's gone now. can't get it back. kinda like a finalized block i guess. it happened, it's written, you move on
anyway i took a photo but it doesn't do it justice

when was the last time a sunset just stopped you in your tracks?
