260+ people in the "Belgian bitcoiners" group, and not even 1 post about the AVB podcast quitting. 😉
proves me right I guess.
Do the work or perish.

Food for Though on bitcoin conferences.

A look at the conference circuit and circus
I've made a wizard that can guide people through making a secure cold storage wallet. This is just a beta version, the random entropy has many sourc z, including Belgian railway traffic delays as random input and cliudflare's lavalamp.

The level of idiocy on Bluesky is absolutely hilarious.

If the only thing you’re known for is hustling a referral link to a conference, that’s honestly kinda pathetic.
They don't promote things (unless it's their own little niche club, and even then it's rather mute).
In the end, it's all a way to score some free tickets to a conference where the same 10 people will stand on stage probably...
(more people in bitcoin should call out stuff to better the space instead of applauding anything that just promotes itself and has no substantial impact)
just my thought

Bitcoin books are getting out of hand.
This week, I've got like 3 ppl with some limited btc experience and/or nothing more to say other than "hard money is good" and "buy my stuff" are to publish "a bitcoin book".
The #deminishingreturns will be hard hitting.
Precoiners is such a stupid word.

I make podcasts, do interviews, review stuff, blog for years, do presentations, and build tool you can actually use.
This week I got 78 sats in rewards, and 2 people clicked a thumbs up somewhere.
In the meanwhile: a notorious bitcoin-hater like Peter Shiff is raking it in from generous bitcoiners.
😉 I'm going to have fun speaking my mind from now on, the 12 food for thought writings will get more poisonous, because complacency has begun to creep in.
I’m excited to share a sneak peek of the "Say-le-clock" with you all.
It’s a little tool I built for myself to track the Bitcoin timechain purely through audio (I needed that)... it plays a sound for every new block, a quote every third one, and a status update every five minutes, all layered with some background tunes for those who want.
It’s a handy way to “hear” a pending transaction land when you’re waiting on a block or just hanging with the chain.
Plus, it’s also great to use as a chill background clock or even stream to your phone’s lock screen for that always-on Bitcoin connection.
Feel free to check it out and see how it ticks for yourself!
Tick-Tock next block!

You write a blogpost: censored by X in the algorythm, since it's on substack , almost no one sees the post.
You share the same content on highlighter / nostr platform : no one clicks it nor reacts. Since it had no nice picture in it.
You share it again, this time with a nicely generated picture you've made with a paid servive for better results: 2 people click it. No reactions.
You buy a sub. to a podcast engine and you create a podcast with two voices and a new bullitin.
+80 downloads, no reaction.
You release it on a podcast v2 platform, but no one listens through that platform in Belgium, they don't get it. And in their mind, that's the only platform you're on ... so they don't know Fountain app and they don't click it.
So you share the links to all the other platforms as well, and you create a separate page where you share all the links to spotify and so on...
No one cares.
So you write another blogpost and since it's "too long" (it's a long-read format), you add a professionaly made audio recording of the podcast/blog so people don't have to read and can just listen to it on the go.
9 people open it.
The reach on nostr, X and BluseSky together is always under 10 hits.
So... people tell me "hey man, why don't you make youtube videos in English".
"Because I have a podcast, not a youtube channel or so. I do audio only for a reason: if people want to listen to the content anyway, they can do so without seeing me sitting behind a microphone".
So... here we are.
3 years podcasting for the Belgian audience. And I can safely say that the 100 or so of core audience is reached.
And I won't be a reply-guy spammer either.
It is what it is. A dismal state of affairs in a country where you're a pariah whenever you try to do something independent.
The moment I realized this bitcoin community was f'd, was the moment a hardware hawker asked me "So, what do you sell?"
Something has to change.
The 4 things we hear these days are:
- bitcoin is great! follow me back, get a referral code, I'm important
- get your security through buying my stuff (like hardware wallets you don't need), and click my code and link please
- get some extra money from these middlemen I'm in bed with: click it
- and keep it quiet, but here's how to trade some shitcoins, get my paid newsletter and I'll tell you all about it, oh and follow me on telegram and instagram, I have a book and speaking gigs as well, all paid
Let's start a new movement of people who don't need your cash, the kickbacks, the little incentives in order to tell you variants of the same 4 things:
- bitcoin is scarce, hard money
- you can get a seedphrase securely and keeping it offline at all times
- fiat is a scheme of power and greed, shortsighted and repetitive
- build, advance and innovate with your talent
