As bitcoiners, we’re doing more than fixing the money. We’re ushering in a new era of human flourishing, and flourishing means a renaissance of art and ideas. This is a podcast about big ideas in Bitcoin.

“Are my efforts in vain? Is this just how it is and there's nothing that's worth doing? Or is it that I'm able to pursue and actualize the things I value. That's having a good time versus having a bad time. It's a specific sort of existential despair vs existential engagement."

Nobody knows personal finance like @Trey. I threw him a bit of a curveball and asked him how a young artist might think about utilizing bitcoin and, unsurprisingly, he had a really thoughtful, insightful answer. Full episode dropping tomorrow wherever you get your pods:
In vlog #1 I talked about how bitcoiners have an opportunity to re-architect culture on top of a sound money foundation, and what that means or should mean for the future of the humanities and the arts.
In vlog #2 I’m making the case for why you should read great literature:
Gm, @Trey on why paying off your mortgage early is an especially costly way to achieve peace of mind and why building your liquid asset base is better. New episode with Trey dropping this week. Subscribe so you don’t miss it!
Seek real encounters with the self. Seek truth. Capture it, transfigure it and, most importantly, share it.
Do not underestimate the highly agential superstructure that is the Bitcoin community. We will find the levers that move the world.
One of the cool things about this show is that I get to talk about different conceptions of freedom with different bitcoiners. @markstephany gets into reciprocal freedom, Simone de Beauvoir, and existentialism, all pertaining to btc. Episode drops Thursday 👀

I started this show because yes we're fixing the money, but so much is downstream of money, including art and culture, which in myriad ways are informed by, grounded in, and refracted through the environment created by the monetary system.
TBP is about bitcoiners' role in rebuilding a robust creative culture that generates and debates big ideas and undertakes ambitious projects.
The benefit of being an artist on a bitcoin standard, or at least the hope, is that over time it liberates you from having to focus entirely and unwaveringly on the commercial environment and the commercial tastes of the mainstream.
If you are on a bitcoin standard, and you have achieved some level of flexibility, some level of financial security through bitcoin, then you are free to make whatever kind of art you want, without pandering and catering by necessity to mainstream tastes. Instead, you get to pursue things that push boundaries, riskier things, experimental things, etc.
You get to hew to YOUR vision, not pander to the ever-changing, ever-fickle tastes of the commercial mainstream.
In the same way that people say great leaders don’t follow public opinion, they create it, great artists don’t conform to mainstream taste, they create new taste. Or they fundamentally transform it.
