It’s 5 degrees Celsius outside and I’m heating our living room with bitcoin. It’s hashing to our @BitcoinBrabant DATUM @OCEAN pool. We’re reducing natural gas consumption radically. We’ve just ordered a new 30KWh battery pack to start smart steering with our 44 solar panels positioned on East (12 x 480) West (12 x 480) and south (20 x 320). We will monitor the upcoming year with fluctuations and looking forward reducing grid reliance as much as possible. We’ll even have an emergency switch for when the power on the grid is gone.
All our systems are backed with multiple internet connections. Both 5G and Glassfiber (1.2GBit/s). We have starlink as a backup. We recently had to change our glassfiber ISP as we got serious issues with our TOR connections. We now paid off the 2 year contract and switched to Freedom internet as ISP. Best choice ever, we haven’t had any problems since. We’re on our way to sovereignty.

What is the best Nostr desktop client for macOS, also ok if it’s browser based. But I can’t find anything that works smoothly… Damus, Snort, Nostter all the applications don’t really work, break or have so many issues… Is anything proper available?
What is the most important thing in life? Otis Sha (anagram for Satoshi) gives us a clue. Curious what is most important for you when you see this?

Every Sunday it’s time to learn more about money. But this time I just felt like rereading “anatomy of the state” by Murray Rothbard. I’ve mentioned it once as my favorite piece in the @Connect the World podcast. This podcast has way too little followers btw.
If we don’t manage to decentralize mining (templates) before regulatory capture, who will control the “compliance” list?
Fiat payments are a pain. Can we incorporate shipping data in somekind of checkout way automatically. Like people use a Nostr plugin or Nostr login where it just shares the shipping data and pays. The single button Apple Pay feature sharing the shipping data automatically is quite simple, plus it automatically generates a private email
address. We should have a bitcoin pay button that is able to do the exact same thing.

My wife gave me a new ice bath tub. My mother in law created a happy bitcoin birthday sign. Also got a perfect Sierra Leone silver coin from my birth year. My kid came walking in with it. Typical bitcoin bday 🙏 grateful for everyone around me supporting this adventure that is life.

X is really broken. It doesn’t matter if you look at “for you” “following” or even my noderunners select group. Only posts about some things happening in the US are constantly thrown in your face. Can’t wait to be able to set my own algorithm based on what I want to see. It’s very simple: WTF are people building to improve bitcoin.

Wie van de Nederlandse bitcoiners heeft er ooit van bitcoinwiki gehoord? Behoorlijk veel proof of work door @Marnix Schoorel! https://bitcoinwiki.nl/
Is X dying for real bitcoin content? Our company took off because of X in 2021/2022. So I’m very thankful that the app brought me where I am today. I’m afraid that it’s not going the right direction. We’ve build a lot of cool #bitcoin stuff and all of it is basically archived on X. I’m afraid to lose it all at some point. Is there a way to migrate the content that was once posted on X to Nostr? Willing to pay for it.

People don’t see what we’re dealing with behind the scenes.
As a chairman of the United Bitcoin companies the Netherlands (VBNL) a lot is happening. In the last few months we had serious issues with the bank that facilitates most on/off ramping for exchanges in the Netherlands.
In January a large part of the bitcoin exchanges received a cost increase from €499,- to €4999,- per month for their bank account. In April they received a letter that the companies had until 10th of June to move their funds and operation to another bank. The bank accounts were going to be closed down.
The issue is that many exchanges have built extensive API’s for smooth on/off ramping with this bank. So this was a move that caused a lot of stress for many people. Communication with the bank was impossible. So every individual company took them to court. Only one case was actually brought into the court room and the company won. The other companies received a message they could hold their bank account.
The insane cost increase is still there and creeping further through the list of bitcoin companies.
We’re now looking at a way to reduce the cost, because for small companies it means bankruptcy.
This we do as companies together. And VBNL has been doing this for over a decade now.
For now it’s a bank, and on 10th of September we’re facing an even larger cost issue. The Dutch central bank. We won the court case with 11 exchanges but off course they appealed and now we’ll be standing at the Supreme Court. The central bank has burdened the exchanges with millions of regulatory oversight cost that were not lawful. A win during this court case would not only drop the cost for the exchanges between 2020-2024 but most likely also impact future cost under MICAR and the Authority of financial Markets. We’re currently looking at a €5.6 million cost from just AFM for the ongoing regulatory oversight for MICAR in 2025. Wish us luck.

Just updated our website with the new seedfan pictures and description. Everyone keeps on upgrading their stack. If you’re into @SeedSigner this is a great way to backup. If you’re really into extreme opsec you should go for a seedsafe. If you are a traveler, use a Tinyseed. We have all three options as backup solutions. We believe these are the best options currently available off the shelf.

GM, great news, the bitaxes have arrived. Now we wait for @Printer to steam up to print the cases. Next to that we’re shipping our first zodiac seedsafe. And of course we have the regular Dutch book orders and some signing devices going out. Enjoy your Monday!

GM Pump up the ₿heat. It’s amazing to see how many people are going to heat their home / business with bitcoin miners upcoming winter.

I would like to use @https://silent.link eSIM with a 4 router to mine bitcoin with. Anyone has advise on an eSIM router?

This evening I spend time teaching children about bitcoin. 11 years old was easily creating a new seed with @SeedSigner and we used bluewallet to export the xpub. We wrote down the seed words and verified them. Signed a PSBT. Talked about devaluating currency with the Venezuelan (🙏@El Buffalo) and Zimbabwean (🙏@Gigi ) notes. Explained the @mempool on their phones. They loved magic internet money and asked a thousand questions. It was beautiful.
