Producing your own food, water, and energy is the ultimate form of sovereignty. Raising chickens, cutting wood, and turning sunlight and soil into real value for your family is something no digital chart can ever replicate. This is true security and freedom. In fact, real Bitcoiners will deeply understand this perspective. True self-sovereignty isn't about staring at red and green charts every five minutes—that is just fiat brain. Bitcoin is digital freedom, but land is physical sovereignty. Both are rooted in the exact same principle: Proof of Work. Turning real energy and labor into tangible value, independent of the state. As the famous Bitcoiner motto says: "Don't trust, verify." It means cutting out the middlemen—like central banks, governments, corporate grocery chains, and energy grids—and taking direct control of your life. There is nothing more verifiable than the soil under your feet and the food you grow with your own hands. Growing your own food and stacking sats (HODL) is the ultimate freedom combo. Beautiful perspective. 🌱🐓⚡ #sovereignty #proofofwork #hodl #slowliving #nostr View quoted note →

#Venice 83: Beyond the Red Carpet, the Timeless Charm of the Lido image The Venice Lido is currently hosting the 83rd Venice International Film Festival (September 2–12, 2026), helmed by artistic director Alberto Barbera. While the global spotlight shines brightly on Danny Boyle’s opening film INK, the intense geopolitical debates surrounding DAU, and the major returns of Italian cinema icons like Nanni Moretti, there is a deeper, quieter beauty that often goes unnoticed: the setting itself. For those who cherish hidden gems and old-world aesthetics, the Venice Lido during the festival offers a marvelous contrast. Just steps away from the frantic energy of the Palazzo del Cinema, a short walk reveals stunning villas and grand hotels built in pure Stile Liberty (Italian Art Nouveau), alongside the iconic Hotel Excelsior with its historic Moorish design. For most of the year, this barrier island enjoys a nostalgic tranquility forgotten by mass tourism. Yet, for eleven days, it becomes the center of the universe while beautifully preserving its decadent, historic elegance. Venice is far more than just fashion walks; it is the ultimate proof of how contemporary art finds its deepest inspiration when framed by grand history and rich Italian architectural tradition. 📢 Join the Conversation What is your favorite spot or memory of the Venice Lido? The #Oasis Phenomenon Storms Venice 83: When Nostalgia Becomes Culture and History image There is a different kind of electricity in the air today at the Lido for the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Alongside world-class directors and Hollywood stars, the spotlight is entirely captured by the special screening of Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, presented in the Open - Out of Competition section. This documentary, directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, is far more than just a music film. It offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at one of the most anticipated and sensational reunions in modern music history: their Live '25 Tour. Crucially, it features the very first joint interviews with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher after more than 25 years of silence, feuds, and separation. 1990s Britpop has, in its own way, evolved into a form of "modern folklore." There is something incredibly romantic and aesthetically powerful about seeing the Gallagher brothers—symbols of a raw, unfiltered British working-class culture—walking among the historic architecture and timeless elegance of the Venice Lido. In a music industry currently dominated by streaming algorithms and pre-packaged pop, the return of Oasis represents a form of nostalgic resistance. It is a return to the authenticity of raw instruments and anthems that bridge generations. Venice, with its unique ability to foster a dialogue between historic heritage and the contemporary world, provides the ultimate backdrop. While the documentary is set to hit theaters on September 10th, today the Lido pulses entirely to the rhythm of rock'n'roll. 📢 Join the Conversation! Is this a mere marketing nostalgia trip, or proof that certain cultural legends genuinely never fade away? New York Times food writer Kevin Pang has sparked outrage by replacing guanciale with Spanish chorizo in an Amatriciana pasta recipe, claiming it is more budget-friendly and that "no one would notice the difference." This substitution is a complete culinary disaster. Chorizo's smoky, heavily spiced profile completely overpowers the delicate, traditional flavors of the dish, destroying the role of the guanciale's noble fat. 📜 A bit of history: Amatriciana originated in Amatrice, a small town between the Lazio and Abruzzo regions. It was originally a meal for shepherds during seasonal migration and was served "white" (called Gricia), made only with guanciale and pecorino cheese. Tomatoes were only added towards the end of the 18th century. Today, the dish is strictly protected by the European Union under the TSG (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed) status. 🍳 The Real Recipe (Even if you live in the US): If you are abroad, don't give in to chorizo. Find an Italian specialty store or use these exact ingredients: The proper fat: You need Guanciale (cured pork jowl). If it's absolutely impossible to find, use a good quality pancetta tesa (unsmoked pork belly). Never chorizo! The cheese: Pecorino Romano DOP, freshly grated. It has a sharp, salty bite—do not use Parmesan. The tomatoes: Canned peeled tomatoes (San Marzano are the best), crushed by hand. The deglazing: A splash of dry white wine. ⚠️ Strictly Forbidden: No garlic, no onions, no butter, and no olive oil (the guanciale must render and cook in its own fat!). Let's respect the ingredients. Simplicity is the true secret of Italian cuisine 🇮🇹. #food #italy #amatriciana #cooking #nostr #culture image
#food #italy #amatriciana #cooking #nostr #culture image

image Want to try one? They are delicious. 🌵Prickly pear cacti are loaded with gorgeous, colorful fruit during these hot and sunny late August days. You simply can't miss them. You can spot them especially in southern Italy, lining countryside roads and railway tracks. image Every time I see them, I take a trip down memory lane. When I was a kid, I used to eat so many of them. There was always that carefree moment interrupted by a tiny, invisible thorn piercing your skin and hurting for days. 😅 Today, luckily, I’ve learned how to peel them. Here is the ultimate method I use: • Secure the fruit by piercing it firmly right in the middle with a fork. Never touch it with bare hands. • Using a sharp knife, slice off both ends (the top and the base). • Make a gentle longitudinal cut along the skin, from one end to the other. • Use the knife blade to pry the skin open and roll the fruit out. You will get a perfect, clean cylinder without a single thorn. An extra tip: Soak them in a bowl of water beforehand to help remove the thorns. Then, pop them in the fridge for a couple of hours before peeling. Cold, on these late summer days, they are absolutely heaven. ❓ Do any of you still have childhood thorn trauma like me, or did you always know how to peel them? 😉 #nostr #italy #southitaly #nature #summer #foodtips #pricklypear #cactusfruit
