If we imagine the most extreme scenario, in which every node runner is a power user and they write their own implementation, that would be the most decentralized option. As long as each node respects the essential network rules they will still function. Would this be better than everyone running the same software?

I've been rolling my eyes at the quantum computer threat to Bitcoin for years now, but based on this recent podcast from @preston it sounds like timeframe is uncertain, but the threat is legitimate. I'd be interested to hear more discussion on this as it's much more fundamental to current use cases than the current node discussion.

If there's anything I've learned over the years regarding Bitcoin it's that purchasing it with any expectation of a certain price within the next year or two is a foolish move. Trading on leverage is that in steroids. I can't believe how much leverage has been wiped out over the last 12 months under relatively stable conditions. A lot of people still want to learn the hard way.
