Amongst the odd bit of pottering I've done today, i started recessing some diamond sharpening plates. They aren't my favourite sharpening system but they work well enough to maintain an edge as i work. A strop works as well too. Once the recess is deep enough i contemplated gluing them in but ive decided to go with magnets glued in to drilled holes. #uk #brits #sharpening #knives #diamondplates

Whilst in principle i agree with most stances these people take, i just can't get on board. The main issue i have is they don't offer or promote solutions. We did get some flooding on the allotment but it wasn't too bad. It's been higher, sometimes covering half the plot so i dont mind just the bottom bit being under water. At least the shed is dry so all the work last year to get a new base built paid off 👍🏻 #uk #brits #allotment #flood #storm

Gm nostrichers 👋🏻 The rain has stopped and river levels are dropping. Going to pop out to my local raw milk farm to pick up a couple of litres. Then down to the allotment for another flood check. If we're dry I'll get some wood chips on one of the beds i'm leaving fallow next year. Then home and work on drying in the workshop a bit more. Last job if the day. Got gifted some random chillis and apples today from a freind. I'm assuming the thin ones are a type of cayenne, possibly ring of fire. There was also a sweet pepper in the mix though i didn't take a photo of those. The apples were cored and the seed put on damp kitchen towl and chucked in the back if the fridge. I'll check for germination in the new year, grow on for awhile and decide which wild spots to plant up. The garlic is coming on nicely. But so are the weeds due to the relatively warm start to Autumn. Ran the hoe over the weeds and chucked a row cover over the gralic to protect it from wildlife. Experimented with a better cover frame set up. Learned not to over engineer things, so took one of the side bars off.
