This Christmas, I chose violence against some of my favorite podcasters! 🧡 I vibe-code a podcast player that automatically skips ads. But before podcasters come for me attacking their revenue stream, there's something for you too at the end! Podcasting 2.0 already supports chapters, which are just time codes. So I adapted that functionality to just add time codes for ads. Not exactly rocket surgery! 🚀👨‍⚕️ Skipping intro/ads in the recent @preston & @Seb Bunney episode. But where it could get interesting for nostr are the incentives. The start/stop time codes of the ads needs to be sourced from somewhere. That data could be crowdsourced from nostr users, who would earn zaps when an ad they tagged got skipped. The podcast producers could even provide their own time code tags so they get the zaps. Cutting noise & getting to the signal with @Danny Knowles & @Saifedean Ammous Haven't spent a ton of time on this, but I'd imagine listeners would probably pull the data from a paid nostr relay so their player could look up the GUID for each episode to get the ad time codes. And the player would notify the relay when an ad got skipped and by which npub and who's npub tagged the timecodes. Stealing food off @Marty Bent table, sorry bro! But... Where it could get interesting for podcast creators is that the ads that are baked into your mp3 get stale over time, or they are just totally irrelevent to a global audience. You're leaving money on the table. With these tagged time codes you could have dynamic ads that are localized for people that listen using an ad-block compatible player that hasn't paid for the ad-blocking. They still get ads, but more relevant ads. I blame/thank @Rob Hamilton and @FRANCIS - BULLBITCOIN.COM for bragging about their vibe-coding productivity! Disclaimer: I am not a podcaster (or developer) and have little insight into the inner workings of the biz model of the industry. I just wanted to try out Claud with and scratch an itch of an idea. Simple proof of concept code as a fork of Podverse:

If one wanted to use nostr as a private contact list / address book, complete with phone numbers and other data that only the nsec owner could CRUD, what would be the best way to go about this? #asknostr

If there is indeed an "order of operations" as @Marty Bent often says, then it would seem to make sense for all spending wallets to ask users to choose their (current) Unit of Account as part of the onboarding flow. Sure, sats can be one of the choices for the hardcore bitcoiners that already denominate their lives in BTC. But for MASS adoption, don't make users think in a new currency. At least not yet. image

People used to post encrypted messages on Twitter, as proof of their prediction of some future event. Once the event happened they would reveal the previous prediction by sharing the unencrypted version with proof of keys. How would one easily do that on nostr? #asknostr

Universe, make it so: A marketplace to LICENSE bitcoin designs. There are many great designers of Bitcoin merchandise. There are printers all around the world. It doesn't make sense to pay DHL to ship your badass Bitcoin coffee mug from Thailand to Tanzania and pay customs on top. License the hi-res design to me for sats. I'll print locally and save you a trip down to DHL.
