Today, I was published in a Norwegian news outlet discussing the Norwegian parliament's initiative to ban Bitcoin mining in Norway. The hypocrisy is unreal, considering that Equinor, a Norwegian oil and gas giant with the state as the majority shareholder, is mining Bitcoin on an oil field in Argentina. #notinmybackyard Thanks to the team at Subjekt it got published just in time for the Oslo Freedom Forum. bitcoin is bad for dictators Yeah, Putin can use Signal to DM his cronies, or bitcoin to pay them. But the right angle to view this is - without bitcoin and Signal dissidents can't fight Putin and his cronies. Fighting encryption and privacy is just about the most idiotic move ever.
