I want to give a shoutout to Norwegian artist Moddi's album "Unsongs" (2016). It deserves WAY more attention! For those who follow HRF's work, this is spot on. He's re-recorded censored songs from around the world. It's not only thought-provoking and a beautiful (and brave!) idea - it is also expertly executed. The music is great, with Moddi's voice bringing a sense of urgency and intimacy to each track. The production allows the listener to focus on the stories and emotions behind each song. For anyone who cares about freedom of speech and human rights, "Unsongs" is a must-listen. It's a powerful reminder of the impact of censorship! @HRF @ck @gladstein Read about the stories behind the songs here: image

Drove through the wealthiest part of Oslo today and hardly saw nothing but Porsches. Nice cars, but I generally feel sad for these people. How many of them actually find happiness in a fancy car, and how many just splash 100-200k usd on a car because everyone else does? I mean - if a nice car makes you happy, be my guest. But this is keeping up with the Joneses. For many in that area there is hardly a dent in their finances, but for others the opportunity cost in bitcoin and financial freedom is wild. What car I drove? A 9 year old Japanese brand worth 6k usd. And I would 100% not have been happier in a Porsche.. Anyway, that’s the note.

What happens if mining becomes unprofitable? Many worry that once Bitcoin’s block subsidy runs out, the network will collapse, because fees might not be high enough to incentivize miners to secure the network. I think this take misses an important factor: Mining may move from being a way to monetize stranded resources to become a required operational cost to maintain financial sovereignty. In the future, as Bitcoin becomes more valuable the need to protect it will become strategic, not just economic. Think of it like this: no one expects a gold vault to be profitable. You build and guard a vault because the gold is worth protecting. The same logic applies to Bitcoin mining. - Nations, banks and corporations will mine Bitcoin to secure their own wealth. - Mining becomes an operational cost—like cybersecurity, insurance, or physical vaults—not a profit-maximizing endeavor. - Controlling hashpower means controlling your transaction priority, your freedom from censorship, and your stake in monetary sovereignty. Even if fees are low and the subsidy goes away, Bitcoin’s security will be upheld by those who depend on it most, because they can’t afford not to. Bitcoin survives the end of the subsidy, because powerful actors will have skin in the game to keep it secure. But will it be sufficiently decentralized?

I remember a decade ago when I saw Leonard Cohen live in Oslo. If you were there, you know. Everybody knows Ethereum's dead The Merge came through, it’s all been said Everybody thought it’d change the game But now it’s burning slow in shame That’s how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows the miners quit Vitalik said, “This is it!” Proof of Stake, the future’s bright But the price in Bitcoin’s lost the fight That’s how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows “ultrasound money” Was meant to make things bright and sunny But those who focus on dollar price Are clowns who pay a heavy price That’s how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows, it’s Bitcoin that counts Ethereum’s sinking, no rebounds Ethereans watch with disbelief Bitcoin pumps brings deeper grief That’s how it goes Everybody knows Everybody knows Vitalik’s plan But things are slipping from his hand The Merge was hyped, but now it’s clear Ethereum’s demise is near That’s how it goes Everybody knows image

Evidence claiming red meat is harmful have always been weak. Good article on the topic: "the authors state that these recommendations are based entirely on health data, without consideration of environmental effects or ethical considerations regarding animal welfare." Seems obvious to me that environmental effects of diets should not play a part in dietary guidelines.. TL;DR have a varied diet. done.
