I asked Llama3 about drinking raw milk and it gave the answer below. What do you think about the answer?
------
While it's technically possible to drink milk straight from a cow, there are several reasons why this isn't commonly done:
1. **Sanitation and safety**: Milk from a cow is not sterile, which means it can contain bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, or Listeria. Drinking raw milk from a cow without proper handling and processing increases the risk of foodborne illnesses.
2. **Milk quality**: Raw milk from a cow may contain mastitis (inflammation of the udder), which can contaminate the milk with bacteria and other substances. Additionally, the milk may not have been properly cleaned or cooled after milking.
3. **Cow health**: A cow's milk production is influenced by factors like nutrition, stress, and health issues. Drinking milk directly from a cow might expose you to potential health risks if the cow has underlying conditions that could be transmitted through its milk.
4. **Bacterial growth**: Raw milk contains bacteria that can multiply quickly in warm temperatures (above 40°F or 4°C). This can lead to the growth of harmful pathogens like Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism.
In contrast, pasteurization (heating the milk to a high temperature for a short period) kills off most bacteria and extends the shelf life of the milk. The milk is then cooled, packaged, and distributed to stores or consumed on-site at dairy farms or creameries.
While there are some small-scale, local dairies that sell raw milk directly to consumers, it's essential to ensure that these operations follow proper handling, processing, and sanitation procedures to minimize risks. Even so, many experts recommend against drinking raw milk from a cow due to the potential health risks involved.
“Do you mean to tell me that you're thinking seriously of building that way, when and if you are an architect?”
“Yes.”
“My dear fellow, who will let you?”
“That's not the point. The point is, who will stop me?”

"Part of the duty of citizenship is not to be intimidated into conformity. I wish that the oath of citizenship taken by recent immigrants, and the pledge that students routinely recite, included something like “I promise to question everything my leaders tell me.” That would be really to Thomas Jefferson’s point. “I promise to use my critical faculties. I promise to develop my independence of thought. I promise to educate myself so I can make my own judgments.”
Carl Sagan "The Demon-Haunted world" (1996)
[Thomas Jefferson, in the early 1800s] "described the governments of Europe, which he saw at first hand as the American ambassador to France. Under the pretense of government, he said, they had divided their nations into two classes: wolves and sheep. Jefferson taught that every government degenerates when it is left to the rulers alone, because rulers—by the very act of ruling—misuse the public trust. The people themselves, he said, are the only prudent repository of power."
In Carl Sagan's "The Demon Haunted world" (1996)
"To refuse a hearing to an opinion because they are sure it is false, is to assume their certainty is the same as absolute certainty. All silencing of discussion is an assumption of infallibility" John Stuart Mill, 1859
Sharing this incredible YouTube channel which does uncensored street interviews in Russia and Belarus, interviewing both sides of the spectrum. Here are my thoughts, before they inevitably censor this channel or arrest this brilliant group of young journalists:
- It is horrifying to see what lack of freedom of speech does to people. Some people are afraid to answer the reporter questions, some people walk out of the interview, other people say "I'm afraid to go to Jail", others have more nuance and give cynical answers or an uncomfortable or "yellow" laugh. Lots of half sentences and unsaid truths.
- Although the elections are staged and there is no real democratic process, the support for Putin is real, overwhelmingly in the older population >40. Younger people interviewed mention getting their news from Telegram, independent websites or "foreign" media, which highlights the importance of free media (or more accurately "free-er media") and how that conditions the older population, who only gets news from Russian television. A problem as old as humanity itself unfortunately. That's why we need tools like Bitcoin, Tor and Nostr, to enforce freedom through code #grownostr
- "All evil in the world comes from the silence of good people" - some denounce the passivity and resignation of their countrymen who enable this as long as they can get a basic decent life. But without access to guns or even basic freedom of assembly (online and in person), it is almost impossible to see how they can fight for a better life
- Everyone on either side already knows, at this stage, that there is a full scale war against Ukraine going on, especially with recent attacks by drones on Russian soil.
- I am grateful that I can make this post without fear of repercussions, although I do fear that our western government are increasingly more incompetent, ignorant, corrupt, authoritarian and complacent with war crimes. Freedom is everyone's responsibility, at all times, everywhere. We must not let it get worse.

Industrial electricity prices increasing in Europe is a very bad sign, and will lead to further de-industrialization. I strongly maintain that the main culprit are government monopolies and excessive grid regulations

"But in practice such a society could not long remain stable. For if leisure and security were enjoyed by all alike, the great mass of human beings who are normally stupefied by poverty would become literate and would learn to think for themselves; and when once they had done this, they would sooner or later realize that the privileged minority had no function, and they would sweep it away. In the long run, a hierarchical society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance."
1984 (George Orwell)
