The fact that you can still 10x+ your money if you believe BIP 444 will activate, and almost no one is doing it tells you all you need to know.
The Cashu FUD is so tiresome and so easily solvable that I struggle to believe people are posing these objections in good faith, I came up with these four ideas with literally 2-3 minutes of brainstorming. The claim there is no solution is INSANE:
1) mildly cyphepunk: the risk is overblown and just accept the status quo; I’ve used Cashu since it came out and have never lost a sat, use Calle’s mint auditor and various mint review websites.
2) mildly statist: hire an existing Bitcoin only MSB to run the mint. Strike, River, etc are highly competent engineers who can easily handle running a dinky Cashu mint when they have gigantic lightning nodes.
3) maximally cyberpunk: hire a high reputation anon like Calle, Egge, etc to run a mint.
4) maximally statist: hire a tradfi firm or bank. Fidelity showed they can roll their own custody and it’s actually pretty impressive. BNY Mellon and other Wall Street goats also have or are about to have in house custody offerings. Could hire a shitcoin casino like Coinbase. Cashu is easy to run so any of these could do it.

GM! The Fed has never been independent and has always politicized. The only real option is to disband the whole institution. Otherwise such unimaginable power will always eventually be abused. I think the quantum threat is wildly overstated by all objective evidence, e.g. they can’t even factor a number higher than a smart 5th grader. But I think we should get a quantum safe address going just so people with STFU about it.

@Rob Hamilton if anchorwatch and the web wallet disappears, where can customers go to access their funds? Is the only current option manually restoring to the BTC core wallet? Because that would be tough for most users though certainly possible…
