I’m so excited that this year’s @Adopting Bitcoin #AB24 conference in #ElSalvador has a dedicated kids space and that my daughter, Malaika, has the opportunity to volunteer and speak. This is such a powerful, inspiring opportunity for all participants. Thank you to Bitcoin Juniors Club and everyone else involved in making this happen, and for the thoughtfulness and love you have poured into planning this space and sessions! Vamos, #Bitcoin para niños! image

45% of X, Facebook, Instagram, Nostr etc thinks the recent U.S. election was salvation. 45% of X, Facebook, Instagram, Nostr etc thinks the recent U.S. election was the start of decent into chaos and destruction. 10% seem to appreciate that the truth, in fact, is somewhere in the middle. It’s time for vigilance. It’s time for critical thinking. It’s time for patience and a generosity of spirit. It’s time to talk across the civic divide and to listen. It’s time to begin the healing. Each of us can do this. It’s starts with us.

Here’s my observation with respect to the U.S. Elections. Most people opining on why Americans shouldn’t vote for the other party/candidate are full of shit, painting caricatures of people who vote for the other party/candidate. This goes both ways, from both the “Trump/Vance” camp and the “Harris/Walz“ camp, both Democrat and Republican. The majority of people are re-enforcing inherited narratives about the “other”, fuelled by the toxic incentives that guide electoral politics as sport. I’m more and more won over to the idea that this is by design. If we actually invested time to speak with each other, to focus on values and hopes for society, we would find that 80% of people can generally agree on 80% of things. However, our current civic climate pushes us to engage at the fringes, beginning from the disposition of the 20% focused first and foremost on the 20% of things on which they disagree. We are sucked into this abyss of false conflict. Regardless of the outcome today, perhaps make a point of talking to more people with who you are led to believe you “disagree”. If you skew Democrat, have a conversation with some people who skew Republican. And, vice versa. Ask people what they think a better, fair society means to them; what it would look like. Try to get at what they think the core values are that should infuse society. Make the effort to extend a generosity of spirit. The only way things get better is if we make them get better, one person, one conversation at a time. #ElectionDay #USelection #press

Far too few people know about Rockwell, an artist way ahead of his times. He was already singing about the perils of Central Bank Digital Currencies #CBDCs back in the early1980s.

I just booked my first accommodation rental using @Airbtc and paid with #BTC over Lightning. I had an initial question about the property I wanted to book at and received very quick, helpful support from a team member at @Airbtc using the online support function. The entire process was very easy, smooth and I have the satisfaction of contributing to the #Bitcoin circular economy on the global stage. Now, for any naysayers out there who say “no, you don’t spend your Bitcoin!!!” I also just went and exchanged an equivalent amount of Canadian dollars into BTC and moved that BTC back to my wallet. Buy, spend, replace. Rinse and repeat. Please use and support @Airbtc and the thousands of other merchants and service providers around the world who accept Bitcoin. Find them at @npub1864j...t2tq. Be a part of your local Bitcoin circular economy and others on the global stage.

It’s interesting to observe this triad (BTC / AUD / CAD). As the exchange rate of #BTC to the Australian dollar (AUD) peaks clearly above $100,000 AUD, the exchange rate of BTC to the Canadian dollar is hovering at $94,000 CAD. This spread on the exchange rate isn’t unusual, as the CAD has had about a 1-10 cent advantage of the AUD for most of the past two decades, with a few very short periods of parity or slight AUD advantage. It will be interesting to watch this over the months and years ahead though, with BTC exchange rate as a lens. Canada and Australia are both economies with highly financialized housing markets and many socio-economic similarities. As #Bitcoin adoption continues to increase over the coming months and years, and as BTC further displaces other asset classes (housing, gold, collectibles, bonds and equities) as stores of value, it will be interesting to see whether the BTC/AUD and BTC/CAD will remain comparatively range bound or whether we’ll see any divergences. This triad may provide interesting opportunities to gauge the relative impact of Canadian and Australian fiscal and monetary policy, as well as other public policy directions over the months and years ahead.
