Utah Stories on Instagram: "It’s seems like GenXers have a true language barrier when trying to fully comprehend the challenges of GenZs. 🤔
Why such a generational gap? GenXers were called “latch-key kids”; they were raised by Boomers and who believed in hands-off parenting; free-range kids; Learning by falling down; exploring and figuring out the world on their own; What ever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. While this parenting style might have seemed harsh, it produced independent kids who could move out of their parent’s homes. 🏠
But helicopter parents Millennials and young Gen Xers adopted a different parenting style. They decided arrange all of their kids “play dates”; free ranging outside was no longer okay; Therapists help raise their kids, with a myriad of diagnoses for problems. These parents intervene when their children get into fights in school. They call out teachers when their children are ever disciplined in school. 🤔They are raising kids who are ill-equipped to function in a highly-competitive job market; their kids aren’t ready for the real world. 🌍
How do we solve this problem of an entire generation of adult children? Of course there are exceptions. But what do we do for the kids with the “Failure to Launch” syndrome? 🫣
