One thing I appreciate about Damus over Primal is how fast and reliable it is.

Gave the experimental /goal feature by OpenAI a spin this week. First task accomplished in 18 hours. This might be the biggest change since GPT-3 lol Insane. image

Man the new iOS versio is straight up evil to PWAs. You open the browser menu, press share, then you get a screen that doesnt show Add to Homescreen anywhere, unless you scroll up, but there's no indication that you can even scroll on this scene, then it shows at the bottom of the list.

Everyone on nostr is like “pura vida” but if you really live that Latino life most of the time you just feel “puta madre”

There is no space in software entrepreneurship more depressing than education technology.

I’ve stopped posting on Instagram for the past two months because gaining 7000 followers resulted in one conversion which made me feel kinda sad so I just started coding some more instead. In that two months, my following has grown to nearly 10,000 which is cool. It means my content is at least enjoyable. There’s a good reason why investors avoid education technology - it’s a special place in hell. image

Currently working on expanding my language learning app to have multi-language app support that isn't limited to just Spanish and English speaking users. This way, someone who is Italian can learn Dutch, or someone Egyptian can learn Japanese. However, I can only afford a $20 Codex subscription so my credits are the bottleneck for this development and it may take weeks </3 image

This is probably stupid but I feel like the most underrated feature on my language learning app to learn Spanish is that you can customize the personality of the voice assistant you speak to in the realtime conversation feature image

Added a new feature to my language learning app that encourages you to practice a new language outside of the app in the real world or other places online with a list of tasks.

I had this idea like 10 years ago that you could use AI and Bitcoin to send money to schools, teachers and students around the world by gamifying education apps to send that money any time they learn something and make progress. Turns out the hardest part in that equation was getting people to voluntarily use education apps. That, and I couldn’t have predicted that the political pathology of people most interested in such solutions (equity across socioeconomic strata) would be the most violently against it because the social capital to be gained by alternative and more nefarious algorithms had convinced them that their position was progressive and just.

"I'm still considering whether or not to add notifications on the app. Duolingo notoriously does this, but I've come to accept that promoting education technology to consumers is like promoting Adderall to improve corporate productivity to enterprise HR teams. In theory, it makes sense, but in practice it's basically nonsense. So one reason Duolingo does this is because they essentially have to abuse, spam and beg people to even use their education app in the first place with notifications, emails and other "marketing" tactics, and it's really because promoting education to consumers is like pulling teeth - so you need to create a habit forming tool, a game, an abusive notifications system and brainrot content to even remotely have a chance. I digress, I added a cute dog because it's more pleasant in a number of ways and a heatmap is less anxiety inducing than a calendar streak system."

Upgraded my language learning app in a number of ways to improve retention and joy. You can read about it here https://www.patreon.com/posts/154801947 but tl;dr: - pet health system replaces calendar streaks - flashcard mode has spaced repetition and guided learning - realtime conversation has a better design and less bugs - small UI/UX details to improve how the app feels - less overwhelming onboarding image

I think I'm settling on giving up on entrepreneurship. What I care about doesn't really work in the consumer space. It was a fun and hopeful 3 years but it's probably best to let go of expectations and just do it as a hobby.
