Thinking of adding a "daily plate" feature to my language tutor.
Basically, it'll be a home page for users that creates a guided experiences of all the different learning modalities and essentially gives users a daily quest to practice and learn.
Super early version of this in the image but i'd be adding more overall user progress and data for them to be welcomed to.
Got bit by a stray dog in rural Mexico but the 24/7 hospital clinic is closed because the doctor was “incapacitado”.
Hey but at least Mexico has universal healthcare lol 🤙
people on nostr are so chill man. people are just here and they get it. no point in trying to impress or influence one another - just here cause we wanna be here.
appreciate yall
Voice agents are particularly good when a person is multi-tasking away from a screen.
E.g learning languages while doing chores, driving, vibecoding.
I'm wondering where voice agents really shine and bring joy.
It is built on nostr so you can create throwaway keys with just a username, set up your tutor experience quickly through onboarding and then just press Talk to get started.
Mostly looking for: what you like or didn’t like, what you would like to see in a feature like this and/or bugs/friction you may have experienced.
Thank you for your time!!
Teaching people how to code to teaching people languages with language model technology was somewhat of a natural progression.
One thing I quickly learned about teaching code to “underserved” communities is how important each word was when it came to introducing these skills.
Basically, you say one thing too unfamiliar and you risk totally losing someone’s understanding
So there ended up being a lot of meta clarifications in the pedagogy and curriculum
It was at that point that I took more interest in language learning, after internalizing that literacy is the first mile in the world of learning.
It’s sorta obvious, the first thing a baby learns is how to interact and communicate. But that gets multiplied into everything later.
Then in the world of interaction you find a lot of other first principles - imagination, motivation, curiosity. Education is a really emotional thing.
The war with Iran reminds me of the Spanish-Chichemeca war.
It was a war that lasted decade after decade, where the Spanish campaigned a "war of fire and blood" against the semi-nomadic tribes that destabilized their trade networks and treasuries, only to fail in and realize the way to win was through peace negotiations with their allied native Tlaxcala delegation and investment into their world.
It’s actually kinda cool how my language learning app doesn’t require a screen now that the voice tutor is the main feature.
Like I can be washing dishes and learning some stuff. I think people are right it believe that voice UIs will be a trend that pushes the internet forward.
