Got bit by a stray dog in rural Mexico but the 24/7 hospital clinic is closed because the doctor was “incapacitado”.
Hey but at least Mexico has universal healthcare lol 🤙

One of my favorite delicacies in rural Mexico - agave flower stalk

people on nostr are so chill man. people are just here and they get it. no point in trying to impress or influence one another - just here cause we wanna be here.
appreciate yall
people hate AI art so bad but it's honestly so useful for making education content lol

I really need to put more effort into connecting with people. Kinda fell off hard doing that over the past couple of years.
Updated realtime tutor to work more reliably with background noise for people doing chores, commuting or folks who live in noisy environments.

One must obsess over the user experience

Working on making my language tutor smarter and more accurate. Almost there, building this was way harder than I thought it'd be

Voice agents are particularly good when a person is multi-tasking away from a screen.
E.g learning languages while doing chores, driving, vibecoding.
I'm wondering where voice agents really shine and bring joy.
Love nostr, favorite way to makes apps
GOOD MORNING NOSTR ‼️🌞
I am offering 1000 sats for feedback on a new feature I’ve been working on: a realtime language tutor @
It is built on nostr so you can create throwaway keys with just a username, set up your tutor experience quickly through onboarding and then just press Talk to get started.
Mostly looking for: what you like or didn’t like, what you would like to see in a feature like this and/or bugs/friction you may have experienced.
Thank you for your time!!

Made the question and answer formats in my language learning app a lot faster
Teaching people how to code to teaching people languages with language model technology was somewhat of a natural progression.
One thing I quickly learned about teaching code to “underserved” communities is how important each word was when it came to introducing these skills.
Basically, you say one thing too unfamiliar and you risk totally losing someone’s understanding
So there ended up being a lot of meta clarifications in the pedagogy and curriculum
It was at that point that I took more interest in language learning, after internalizing that literacy is the first mile in the world of learning.
It’s sorta obvious, the first thing a baby learns is how to interact and communicate. But that gets multiplied into everything later.
Then in the world of interaction you find a lot of other first principles - imagination, motivation, curiosity. Education is a really emotional thing.
The war with Iran reminds me of the Spanish-Chichemeca war.
It was a war that lasted decade after decade, where the Spanish campaigned a "war of fire and blood" against the semi-nomadic tribes that destabilized their trade networks and treasuries, only to fail in and realize the way to win was through peace negotiations with their allied native Tlaxcala delegation and investment into their world.

It’s actually kinda cool how my language learning app doesn’t require a screen now that the voice tutor is the main feature.
Like I can be washing dishes and learning some stuff. I think people are right it believe that voice UIs will be a trend that pushes the internet forward.
Man, people on the internet really hate AI. It makes me feel kind sad. It has brought a lot of joy & opportunity to my life.
Damnit Gemini’s voice models are way better than OpenAI’s and they’re cheaper too >.<
Early release of an end-to-end realtime language learning tutor.
Gonna make some more UX updates later to make it feel awesome-r but I’m happy that this is a real thing people can use 🙃
I’ve shipped a new realtime language tutor. It adapts based on the user’s proficiency level.
The video below is a demo of me (a Japanese student) learning the basics of German.
It’s an early release so probably some bugs, some ways I can improve the experience and ways to manage the cost since realtime voice is expensive but I’m happy with it.
Everyone on nostr is like “pura vida” but if you really live that Latino life most of the time you just feel “puta madre”
