Monarch Watch notes: The first male radio-tagged monarch has reached Texas! Monarch JMU004 was originally tagged in Virginia on Sep. 23, 2025, and he's now traveled more than 3,000 miles. He was also the first radio-tagged monarch to be detected within the boundaries of a known overwintering site. JMU004 was near Austin by the end of the day on March 19. In addition to being the first male radio-tagged monarch to reach Texas, he's the second monarch that had been radio-tagged in the fall to reach Texas (XSTI009 was first, with a detection on March 14).
