No empire has ever outlived the generation that stopped building households. The modern state project knows this. That is why it never attacks the family directly. It just makes fatherhood sound optional. Makes motherhood sound political. Turns childhood into a system managed by strangers with credentials. Nobody had to outlaw the family. They just had to make it feel irrelevant long enough for the state to fill the gap. And the state loves to fill the gap. Not because it loves your kids but because it needs them. A man who builds a home is not being sentimental. He is laying foundation that no government can replicate and no institution can replace. The hearth is not decorative, its load bearing. I am not Catholic. I hold to Protestant Reformed confessions. I have real theological disagreements with the Bishop of Rome. That is not what this is about. A sitting president just publicly berated the leader of the largest Christian communion on earth like a franchisee who missed revenue targets. “He should be thankful. He wasn’t on any list to be Pope.” Don Tzu genuinely believes the College of Cardinals selected a pope as a diplomatic counter move to him. Not to shepherd 1.3 billion souls. To manage Donald. That is a man who cannot conceive of an institution that does not orbit him. “Focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician.” This from a president who wants every pastor, priest, and bishop in America to function as a campaign surrogate. Who uses “Christian” as a voter demographic label, not a confession. Who says the name of Christ the way he says “the Blacks” or “the Hispanics.” As a bloc to be managed. When the magistrate tells the Church to stay in its lane, that is not separation of church and state. That is Erastianism. State authority over ecclesiastical authority. The Reformers fought kings over this. Literal kings. Some of them died for it. You do not have to agree with Pope Leo on a single point of doctrine to recognize what is happening here. A head of state told the Church to shut up and be grateful. That is not Christianity. That is civil religion wearing a Christ mask. And believers should know the difference.
