The men who raised their right hand did it for love of country. Not love of government. That distinction matters this weekend. The corrupt institution needs those men to be heroes because heroes are useful. Heroes justify decisions. They don’t ask inconvenient questions about whether the intelligence was real. Hold up the symbol, use it like a shield, pivot back to whatever got men killed in the first place. But I’ve known these men. Some of the sharpest, most courageous people I’ve ever been around. They weren’t dying for a policy. They were dying for the guy next to them. The men!! Not the machine! #MemorialDayWeekend
