This generation is trying to normalize a lot of things that shouldn’t be normalized. Not because they’re new. Because nobody wants to be the one who says no. Every generation has its list. What’s different now is the speed. An idea gets floated on a Monday morning and by Friday it’s a hill people will lose friends over. Normal used to mean tested by time. Now it means tested by algorithm. Whatever gets the most engagement wins the argument, whether or not it’s true or good for anybody. You don’t have to go along with it. Say the unfashionable thing. Someone else in the room is thinking it too.

Your closest relationships shape your future. Spend more time with people who inspire you, challenge you to grow, and make you better. This place has more people who’ll actually argue with your ideas than agree with them for free. Who in your follows list has changed how you think this year? Tag them. Let’s build the list.

If the truth costs you money, you’ll find a way to stop believing it. Not because you’re dumb. Because you’re wired to protect what feeds you. Watch who benefits before you trust what they’re telling you.

Feelings don’t overturn facts. That’s not complicated. It used to be common sense. Somewhere along the way schools stopped teaching people to think and started teaching them to feel their way to an answer. Now half the country can’t tell an argument from a vibe. That’s not an accident. A population that reasons from feelings is a population you can steer. Know the trick and you stop falling for it.

18 holes of golf with the wife in Idaho. Sat down at the 19th hole next to a table of 8-10 guys, all 60-70 maybe. Talking about a 20 year old girl who works at the golf club. Gutter mouth stuff. Loud about it, laughing, like it was clever. Boners and all. I almost stood up. Wife right next to me. Wanted to ask them if they’d talk that way about their own granddaughter. Didn’t. Guys like that don’t hear you mid laugh, they just get louder for the table. This is some of what we inherited from that generation. Along with the work ethic and the grit, we got men who never got told no and never grew out of needing to. Not interested in being loud and small at 70, mistaking volume for respect. Talk about women right when they’re not in the room. Don’t laugh along at the next table. That’s most of the job. Most men fail it quiet. Don’t.
