Somewhere along the way we swallowed two bad ideas. One says if I disagree with how you live, I must be afraid of you or hate you. The other says if I love you, I have to sign off on everything you believe and do. Neither one survives contact with real life. Anybody with a brother already knows this. You can hold your convictions and still treat people with genuine care, and people have been doing both at once for as long as there have been families.

The meme only works if you never open the book. Lobster falls under the ceremonial law. Food rules set Israel apart from the nations until Christ fulfilled them. Jesus declared all foods clean in Mark 7, and Peter got the sheet full of animals in Acts 10. Nobody in a biblical church is losing sleep over a lobster roll. Rape carried the death penalty in Deuteronomy 22. The man dies and the woman is declared innocent. That's a harder line than any American court is allowed to draw. Slavery gets similar treatment. Kidnapping a man and selling him was a capital crime in Exodus 21. Paul lists slave traders right alongside murderers in 1 Timothy. A runaway slave was not to be handed back to his master. And the Bible records plenty of broken things it never endorses. David took another man's wife, and God sent a prophet to his door about it. The Canaanite conquest is the heavy one and it deserves a straight answer. God gave those nations four hundred years before judgment came, and later sent Israel into exile under the same standard. That was a judge ruling on a specific people at a specific time. No king or army gets to borrow that authority for his own war. Then there's the part your meme skips. You call genocide evil and I agree with you. But in a universe of matter bumping into matter, where does "evil" come from? You're standing on a moral floor while trying to rip it out. I've realized that some people are addicted to chaos. They'll sabotage anything peaceful. Create problems where there are none. Start fights for no reason. Because drama is all they know. Peace makes them uncomfortable so they destroy it. CREATE MORE PEACE.

The barbell gets treated like a young man's hobby. It's the opposite. It's the thing you're supposed to still be doing at 70. 35% percent of American men lift at all. By 65 that's 22%. Women drop from 34 to 17. So people quit right around the age it starts doing the most work for them. Start now and make it a discipline. Your future self will thank you.

Most of the trouble out there comes from people who need to be important. Which I know is a rich thing to say as a guy posting his opinions on the internet, so take it for what it's worth. But you've seen it. Somebody stakes out a position in front of an audience and then the facts move and they don't move with them, they just go find some angle that lets the old take keep standing, and if you've been reading them long enough you can usually watch them do it in real time. What they're protecting isn't the argument. It's the fact that people watched them make it. Three years on one side of something, wind changes, now they were always saying this. And the replies don't catch it because the replies were never there for accuracy in the first place, they're there because being on his side feels like being on the right side, which is its own version of the same thing. Nostr's a little better and I don't think it's because we're better people. It's that there's nobody handing out reach, so the loudest take doesn't pay, and when it doesn't pay people mostly stop doing it. Anyway I do this too. Which is the whole thing I just spent four paragraphs complaining about and now admitting. Humility is painful.

Left and right is cheap entertainment for the people running the tables. Argue all you want inside the lines.
