Another Small Victory for BITCOIN....... The IRS announced it is giving digital asset brokers more time to prepare for information reporting and payment rules. Generally, the regulations provide that digital asset brokers need to submit Form 1099-DA , Digital Asset Proceeds Form Broker Transactions , and furnish payee statements showing the gross proceeds of digital asset sales effectuated beginning 1/1/25, as well as adjusted basis details for certain transactions occurring on or after 1/1/26 (TD 10000). Form 1099-DA is a new information return created to track this information. Notice 2024-56 waived the reporting and backup withholding penalties for calendar year 2025, with some limited backup withholding penalties waived for calendar year 2026. The IRS is now extending by one additional year the transitional relief granted in the 2024 notice for certain information reporting and backup withholding. Limited backup withholding penalty relief is also extended to 2027 for payors participating in the Taxpayer Identification Number Matching program and for digital asset sales by customers not previously classified as U.S. persons. Notice 2025-33 .

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday signed a bill that limits land sales to noncitizens from several countries – specifically China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. The new state law is likely to trigger a legal challenge. Supporters of Senate Bill 17 argued that it is necessary because, according to a legislative analysis, individuals and entities tied to each of the four governments identified pose "threats relating to espionage, surveillance, and undue hostile foreign influence, all of which risk state security."

Mississippi State University has one of the top veterinary medicine programs in the USA and my daughter plans to apply for admission in a few years. While the odds don’t look to be in anyone’s favor.
