While the daily caloric intake of the average american has increased about 20-25% since the 60s, there’s another *big* component as to why people were thinner back then: they smoked like chimneys.
So let’s not act like they were thin because they were healthy. The nicotine was suppressing their appetite and half of them were functioning alcoholics.
