Totally support this note. Freedom is dfferent from "just do everything". Freedom is a state of respect. Freedom only holds true, when others get to appreciate it with us. An egocentric freedom, where some humans are disqualified from their freedom, is obviously no actual freedom. This is why we the free need to act as a pack and exclude resilient malicious actors. Otherwise our nostr feeds can not be free. View quoted note โ†’
I really support this take on #linuxphone Maby 2026 is not the year Linuxphone will get a big amount of users. But maby 2026 can be the year, where mobile Linux starts to work and people learn, that closed ecosystems are a personal choice. Not a technical improvement.
Did you already know about the realtime biding-system? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_bidding) It is a fast market, where every time google or other ad-markets get the opportunity to display an ad on my screen, a auction for this space takes place. All participants get specific information, about who you are, so the bidders have information on why they should pay to serve you their ad. The information shared with all bidders is so detailed, it can often be attached to a real identity. And since it does not cost anything to participate in the biding and receive this information, institutions like #ICE can participate in the bidding simply because they want the information which is shared about the target. Really creepy, how cheap these surveillance information can be collected. So maybe we should rather cover our tracks, so google and other bidding-maketplaces do not even have those private information about us. But this definitly comes only with behavior change. I can not protect myself from Google, when I go on using their email and their websearch. So ditching the services of these platforms is crutial, if I want my informations kept private. #privacy #surveillance #advertising
@codonaft I just read your bio. > I haven't yet encountered any -ism that would be sound enough with my belief system. Did you already read or think about chinese taoism? Or stoicism? I really like those two isms ;)
GM Nostr Recently I got to know the apps loupe (for iOS) and AndroWatch (for Android). Both apps display, what datapoints installed apps can see with and without permissions. I run #GrapheneOS and tested AndroWatch therefore. And I learned, that every app can see a persistent ID, which can even survive factory resets (Widevine device ID). So it is one ID, every installed app can read, there is no toggle to restrict this. Not even on GrapheneOS. And this ID never changes on the same Device. So the only solution to not be tracked by a variety of apps is to use WebApps. Those allow the use of webservices through a polished Browserinterface. So it renders something in between a Browser and an App. But has none of these permissions to read device information.
