An Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon earlier today killed five people, including three children, when it hit a car carrying an American-Lebanese family near Bint Jbeil. The Israel Defense Forces said the intended target was a “Hezbollah terrorist” traveling on a nearby motorcycle, but the family’s vehicle was also struck, killing the father and three of the children, and leaving the mother and eldest child critically injured. The IDF said it has opened an investigation into the incident but emphasized it will continue operations to “eliminate threats against the State of Israel.”

Additional recognitions are anticipated this week, particularly from European nations, bringing the total number of U.N. member states that officially recognize Palestine as independent from Israel to 151 out of 193.

At the American Cornerstone Institute Founder’s Dinner at Mt. Vernon tonight, President Donald J. Trump praised the National Guard’s recent deployment to Washington, D.C., highlighting their efforts: “We actually had Soldiers — you saw them — we didn’t tell them to do this, because we don’t want to tell them. They were out there picking up trash. Did you see that? The National Guard — these great military people — the job they’ve done has been unbelievable.”
The Guardian reports that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard failed to notify the White House in advance of her office’s decision last month to revoke the security clearances of 37 individuals, including several senior aides to CIA Director John Ratcliffe. The move caught the White House off guard, as it was unable to review the list before it became public, and no clear record exists showing that the president had directed the action.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House about his warning to the Taliban over Bagram Airbase, President Trump said: “We’re in talks with Afghanistan. We want it back — and we want it back soon, right away. If they don’t return it, you’ll find out what I intend to do.”
About an hour after posting on Truth Social what seemed to be criticism of Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department for not prosecuting several of his political rivals from the Obama and Biden administrations, President Trump followed up with another post praising Bondi’s performance as Attorney General. He also announced his recommendation of Lindsey Halligan, a member of his legal team currently serving as Special Assistant to the President, to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Former White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients told congressional investigators during a closed-door House Oversight Committee hearing on Thursday that President Joe Biden had increasing difficulty remembering names and dates in the final years of his presidency, often requiring additional meetings to make decisions, according to Axios.
Zients added that First Lady Jill Biden had discussed managing the President with him as he prepared to assume the Chief of Staff role in early 2023, urging adjustments to Biden’s schedule to allow more rest and earlier returns to the White House residence for family time or personal downtime.
He also informed investigators that Hunter Biden became directly involved in discussions regarding presidential pardons toward the end of Biden’s term, attending meetings on the matter. However, Zients noted he did not participate in the final meeting concerning the most controversial pardons, including the blanket pardons issued to several family members in Biden’s final hours as President.

U.S. President Donald J. Trump continued his string of threatening posts today on Truth Social, warning that if the Taliban does not return control of Bagram Airbase to the United States, “BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!”
It’s worth noting that Bagram Airbase was originally constructed by the Soviet Union in the 1950s, not by the United States.

Qatar is insisting on an official apology from Israel for its recent ballistic missile strike in Doha before resuming efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in Gaza, according to two sources familiar with the matter who spoke with Axios. The demand reportedly comes from Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, who raised the issue with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during their meeting in Doha on Tuesday.
