In Keychat, everything starts with a 12-word seed phrase. The seed phrase derives multiple IDs, which can serve as both chat IDs and browser IDs. It also derives the private key used to recover the wallet. Both chatting and using mini apps in the browser rely on the ID and wallet.

For developers, building web applications offers unique advantages over native apps β€” lower technical barriers, faster development, cross-platform support, and the ability to publish without app store approval. In fact, for most (mini) apps, web apps are already very practical and easy to use. However, for users, the experience of Nostr web apps is limited because browsers do not natively support Nostr ID login or Bitcoin payments. Keychat solves this issue by combining its ID and wallet with browser, overcoming this limitation and improving the user experience. View quoted note β†’

One year ago today, we publicly introduced Keychat. The letter metaphor helped many people understand what Keychat is all about. Today, Keychat is officially live β€” and even more focused on serving Bitcoiners. β€œKeychat is the super app for Bitcoiners. Autonomous IDs, Bitcoin ecash wallet, secure chat, and rich mini apps β€” all in Keychat. Autonomy. Security. Richness.” This is our first time building a Bitcoin-related app, and as Bitcoiners, we’re truly enjoying it. Thank you for sharing our notes, helping more people discover Keychat, and giving us valuable feedback. We need this kind of support. View quoted note β†’

In NIP-46 (a Nostr protocol for remote signing), if both the signer app and the requester app are running on the same mobile device, it is unreasonable to route signature requests and responses through a relay.
