Ok in today's Linux adventures I was able to successfully install many of the programs I use regularly. This is great because once I do a full migration my work flow doesn't have to change too much.
Easy: (found in software manager)
Signal
Shotcut
OBS Studio
Handbreak* I did have to find a flatpak ref for this but it was no biggie
Moderate success: (partial install / space issues)
RStudio: I was able to install the R language and run it in a terminal, but my attempts to load RStudio failed. I think this wouldn't be impossible to fix, I just didn't want to spend more time.
PyCharm: I was able to download the setup files and started to run them but came up with errors that I was running out of space. This makes sense because Linux is running off the USB stick and doesn't have my full computer's bandwidth.
Hard / #asknostr any advice?
Trezor: I downloaded a "communication" thing but it wasn't the actual trezor program and I'm not sure where to find the proper one.
Scrivener: this is the only one in my current stack that isn't open source, so I'm open to better alternatives. It seems there is no official release of Scrivener for Linux so I might just switch programs.

Been here since January 2025 and still figuring things out. I am a real lady nostrich, I promise I am not a bot and that is not what a bot would say.
There will be puppy pictures, her name is Princess Aurora. I try to keep things positive and spread love β€οΈ. I am a very silly billy.
My favorite "conspiracy" recently is around the gifted and talented program some of us were in during elementary school. Did you get the pink drink? Did you listen to the gateway experience on giant headphones? Did you play the beep boop game to guess what happens next? Did you play the Zener cards or make pictures out of abstract blocks? As an adult do you notice you have stronger than usual intuition? Do you have extremely vivid dreams that are sometimes prophetic? Can you hear the click clicks? Do you still have imaginary friends? Do they tell y
I am loving these #aurora pictures folks! Keep it up! There are reports of sightings as far south as Spain right now.
π€once it gets darker I'm going to take Princess Aurora on a late night walk to see if I can catch a glimpse here in Virginia.
She's named after the phenomena because when I first signed up to get her I panicked and asked God for a sign if it was the right thing to do. That night I saw the Aurora Borealis from my window in Seattle π€―

Good morning Nostr π
The sun is shining earlier and earlier and staying out later and later. Makes me so excited and optimistic, the spring will be here soon!

Ok welp. I've erased the external hard drive, then opened a windows terminal and typed in code and now have officially bricked the external hard drive into read only mode.
I still have to enter the password, even though I uninstalled the security trying to remove the password protection. I can't do anything else with the external drive now.
Apparently SanDisk Extreme Go Portable SSD is very hostile towards Linux. And also apparently ChatGPT is not very good at doing what I've been trying to get help doing.
I'm pretty pissed because it was kind of expensive, I wanted something large to do this Linux work and to protect my files including my ancient video dance classes that I want to keep saved during this transition. But it seems like this was impossible from the jump and I just shouldn't have bought this SanDisk nonsense.
Perhaps tomorrow I will try some other methods. ππππ
Ok, I got a USB stick and set up ventoy and loaded it with Linux.
I am glad I've done this extra baby step before fully installing Linux because I've discovered the hard drive which I saved all my files on as a backup is apparently Windows locked and I cannot access my important files from there while in Linux.
This exercise has somehow convinced my windows computer that it is 1 am Monday now on the East Coast, but it is only 8 pm Sunday. Everything else seems normal and ok so idk π€π€·ββοΈ
Anyways back to the drawing board. What a pain in the ass π€£ It's hard trying to be clever with computers when you've spent a lifetime just accepting not being very good at tech π₯Ί
