I don't usually make predictions but I've never felt more bullish on Europe than I do today. My day started with a 7.30 am visit to a 12th century priory ruin in the heart of England - mind-blowing. This followed a 2 day visit to Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. My home many moons ago. And home to one of the four original magna cartas in existence. When you see the tyranny and corruption that the good people of Europe have risen up to and defeated, this current spot of woke and over-reach of governments is child's play. When I see the greatness Europeans have achieved in architecture, agriculture and far beyond, I have no doubt that we will again achieve new heights for civilisation. Within 1-2 years, Bitcoin mining will be in operation by European nation states, grid operators, power plants, renewable energy farms, and data center operators. Not because they want to mine bitcoin. But because bitcoin mining - aka flexible data centers - helps to solve their problems. This in turn will lead to sovereign, abundant and affordable energy for the good folk of Europe. And with sovereign, abundant and affordable energy, the sky is the limit. Add in to the mix unfuckwithable money, which will be a mere by-product of Europe's energy policy - there is no stopping us. But don't take my word for it. On 23rd September the first European Mining Summit is taking place in Helsinki. Invitation only. @Daniel Batten @BTCHEL 25.-26. SEPTEMBER @Terahash.space @Tanja @npub1kvc5...3sty And the other genuine movers and shakers of integrated, sustainable European Bitcoin mining. You won't find us on social media. Because I hate it. It's all about human connections. Because they have always mattered. And they always will.

Never appreciated at the time the privilege of growing up next to this 13th century proof of work. Humans can achieve such greatness. image

Being with a baby is like meditating. Pulls you in to the here and now. They have few needs. But when they get one, boy its immediate. One second they are all smiles and gurgles. Next second screaming blue murder. The more present you are, the better it is.

No government can solve the energy trilemma. Nor do they want to. Free markets can. And will.

1961 East Germany built the Berlin Wall to keep its citizens from escaping. Today united Germany is attempting the same by imposing the Exit Tax. Both strategies will end the same way. Carrots work long-term. Sticks don't.

There's so much business email jargon bullshit. 'circling back' being one of the most cringeworthy. Why can't we just talk to each other normal like?

My daughter made an interesting observation as we were trying to find a non dog-poo infested spot for our picnic blanket in a UK park for the baby to have a kick. 'Its interesting Mum. In Dubai, they fence off a little area in the corner of the parks for dogs to run off leash, and the rest of the space is for human enjoyment. In England they fence off a little corner of the park for children to play, and the rest of the space is for dog enjoyment.'. Says it all as to where we place the well-being/importance/freedom of children in our society.

The internet, bitcoin and nostr will together precipitate the demise of today's political systems and nation-states. What comes next? I like to imagine a more decentralised form of society, where leaders have to constantly earn their right to lead. Where wealth flows naturally to those helping to create a sustainable, healthy, and culturally rich society. Where society members take responsibility for themselves first, then their families and then their neighbours. With compassion. And common sense. Where what makes us uniquely human is celebrated and revered. Where who you are matters. Not what you have. That's a future I can get excited about.

Yesteryear, your title determined your standing in society. Today it's your monetary wealth. Tomorrow it's the depth of your soul. That's a world I want to live in.
