I’ve only finished the introduction of nostr:nprofile1qqsxc56ajk5xtxerf4dqspgrfa0s5elrcr80lnz9nasldq87j3zzf0cpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucm4wfex2mn59en8j6gpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7cayy5k ‘s The Big Print and I can already tell this will be a quick read. I’ve unwittingly already done the prerequisite reading of Broken Money and The Fourth Turning, and Lepard’s refrain “Fix the Money, Fix the World” might as well be tattooed on my forehead.

The elephant is placed such that it is mooning the office of the artist‘s meddling financier.

Reddit has pretty much completed its downward spiral towards being completely useless. The site is completely overrun by hivemind circlejerks.

I got my print by nostr:nprofile1qqsp887vdwesfv58n96vt8x6v8vx67qk449vpuuwu7njfh6gspswvhgpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzvuqs7amnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wd4hk6hc5nyg all framed up and I absolutely love it, it looks even better in person! Getting it framed in gold was too great an opportunity to pass up.

Well… shit.

I for one am glad to take advantage of a favorable exchange rate.

14 pound brisket going in now. Tomorrow will be a great day. #barbecue

I just finished reading Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn.
The gist of the book is that incentives and punishments are ineffective tools for raising children because they override any lessons learned with extrinsic motivation. Instead, we should not treat our love for our children as a transactional good that needs to be earned. We should keep our long term goal of raising free-thinking, kind, and independent people always at the forefront.
Have any parents on here read this book? If so how useful has its advice been for you? I liked the book and it seems like a great idea to me, but my firstborn isn't due for a few months.

This Romanian election story is absolutely crazy, and this is the first I’m hearing about it.

In this clip there’s a brief mention of The National Endowment for Democracy, which is exactly as creepy as it sounds. This old episode of Congressional Dish is a great deep dive on the subject. Give it a listen.

The #nfl has become so predictable and boring over the past decade or so. I never thought sports were rigged before but it’s kind of beyond the pale at this point. Just give KC the Lombardi in September and save us all the trouble.
