[alt 1] “Three Things I Would Do Differently
• 1. Anchor activity to events. Concentrate Bluesky activity around conferences, major publications, and policy
moments. Explosive bursts > steady trickle.
2. Invest in day-one onboarding, not day-zero marketing. Starter packs by subfield, custom feeds that surface content immediately, active hand-holding in the first session.
i 3. Build for discipline-specific identity. Communities around shared professional identity retain users at far higher rates. Custom feeds and starter packs by research community, not by platform.” slide

someone should make a website like that one for the US election livestreams that shows all 3 streams in one place. can choose which to mute/unmute but see them all on a single place… 👀

Lea: A researcher-focused social app on ATProto
Eugene Vinitsky (NYU) and I have been trying to fill a void left by many other failed products. Researchers are scattered.
Features: verification, clustered paper discussions, safety alerts, stronger social signals, enhanced profiles, "Community
Notes"-style annotation
Inspired by work happening here at Cornell (Paper Skygest) as well as Semble, Blacksky, Eurosky Social, Anisota, and other creative and community-focused ATProto projects.

still not a *huge* fan of the browser company for abandoning Arc, among other things, but I’ve been using Dia on my Mac mini, and now my MacBook Neo, and it’s actually pretty nice. the vertical tabs option looks and feels really similar to Arc. I miss tab sync + the theming of Arc tho!
ooh this is cool. the atproto site now has an MCP option to add the docs to claude code / any AI agents 👀

The search bar prompts users to find solutions from docs, GitHub, and forums, including a Deep thinking toggle. Background text highlights 40M+ users, 2.4B+ posts, and 100% open data alongside a dark globe graphic.

#atmosphereconf is especially exciting this year considering how many more Atmosphere apps exist compared to last year. it’s actually wild how many new experiences there are compared to this time last year..
