A response to my friend saying that I'm caught in a #NOSTR echo chamber while spewing black pilled frustrations with the world.
"You haven't even looked at Nostr, maybe that community really does have real solutions to things on there.
Actually put some fucking effort into figuring things out for yourself instead of black pilling and doing nothing.
You don't have to fix the world. Start with making a positive change in your community.
Grow up.
You can all be so bloody nihilstic. You want a good fucking future? Make one. Stop bitching about things. Make a difference. Do something different, figure it the Hell out. Quit complaining, and take charge of your life.
It's called self-agency. Get some. If the problem is beyond your control, pray about it. If it's within your control, pray about, then do something about it.
You get one life. You want to let the world drag you down? Or do you want to make the absolute best of what you've got? There's no man opressing you from your life ambitions other than yourself."
Just going to leave that there incase anyone needs a pep-talk or reminder why we Nostr or #Bitcoin. Self sovereignty and freedom. Don't forget to live your life to the fullest.

Just watched #TheBigShort for the first time...I understand why it's so liked in this community. We're shorting the whole system. The whole system is fraudulent. Housing is the only thing that got caught last time. It'll be worse this time.
I want to set up a way to send our nieces and nephews some Sats for their Birthdays, Christmas, and Tết. We wouldn't be able to afford very much $5-$25 worth of Sats per kiddo, but my main concern is those Sats would become dust.
My main solution would've been Lightning, but I don't know of any ways to set that up for them where it wouldn't require KYC (since they're all underage).
Any solutions or ideas?

My wife and I are working on our second adoption. We're going through a private adoption agency, instead of the State. Sometimes people ask us how much that costs. Now we're pretty open about our finances, so we don't generally mind sharing that it ends up being in the ballpark of $30,000-$35,000.
Some of our least favorite responses have been comments along the lines of, "Oh, so it costs as much as if you just had a baby normally."
This comment in particular really bothers us. First off, depending on what State we adopt out of, we may still be responsible for the baby's birth expenses in addition to the adoption costs. Secondly, most people have insurance to offset the hospital costs. From what I could find for out of pocket expenses in our State a birth is between $0.00 on State Medicaid, upto $25,000 if you have no insurance at all. With most costing between $2,000-$7,000 or up to the annual insurance deductible.
I know they don't mean any harm by it, but boy it rubs me the wrong way. Price aside, there's a lot of work and heart ache that goes into a successful adoption. Not to mention time waiting, not knowing when you'll be blessed with your next child. We've been told to expect between 1-3 years of waiting per adoption.
For us, we know we're meant to be parents, so we're putting in the extra work.

God bless my wife she made these amazing biscuits this morning. Paired with locally sourced honey, blueberries, and American made orange juice (heavy pulp). I cooked up the pork ribs on my cast iron skillet... undercooked them though, so I had to throw them in the oven for a bit.
