Merry Christmas. Rejoice, our Lord has been made flesh.
Thank God for everything I have, and I pray that each of you are blessed.
Have a holy and joyous day, Nostr.

Today, I almost bricked my PC.
Installed Pop!_Os, an Ubuntu based #Linux distro from my #Ventoy flash drive. I noticed a long boot time after the PC was shut off. The following boot was running nearly ten minutes, so I restarted the PC. This occured several times. I then decided to check the BIOS and hit 'F12' during the startup screen.
Boy did that not give me the result I was looking for. Instead the screen went black and appeared to provide a console, where "^[[24~" would appear anytime I hit F12. This happened repeatedly, until I accidentally got back to the Pop!_Os login screen. I was able to then boot to the BIOS on the next restart.
Thinking I should do a fresh install of Pop!_Os, I Disabled all other boot options in the BIOS except the file I thought was for Ventoy.
I was wrong.
It was not the Ventoy boot file.
I then got a screen that told me, "Boot failure on device." With the only option being a button that said, "Shut down."
This was the only screen I could get.
I took my Ventoy flash drive and checked it on a second PC...unreadable. Great.
Some research on the internet recommended removing the battery on my motherboard. Doing so messed up the PC's clock, which gave me the option to modify the BIOS. Thank Yahweh.
Created a new Ventoy flash drive on the secondary PC. Used that with Linux Mint to reinstall and OS to my primary PC.
So, that's how I ended up with #LinuxMint. The whole ordeal lasted about four hours, and had me severely concerned I'd bricked my main boot drive and motherboard.
All good now, with Mint being quick to boot and successfully surviving multiple test reboots.
I was very excited to receive a surprise parcel from @Leathermint . To my knowledge, my order of Leathermint's artisan leather bound copy of Saifedean Ammous's 'The Bitcoin Standard' was supposed to have been delayed for several more months. It took a lot for me not to rip into the package there at the post office.
I decided to wait until my wife got home. I wanted her to be able to experience my excitement of opening it. As I didn't know for sure what was inside, but had a strong idea. She caught the below photos.
I am incredibly honored to have been blessed with this leatherbound Pueblo Brown Genesis Copy of 'The Bitcoin Standard'. To anyone who hasn't ordered a copy yet, I can assure you that Leathermint's work sits neatly amongst my wife's Easton Press books. His work is intricately crafted, and the book smells and feels to be of a premium quality. A deep, humble, and grateful, "Thank you!" to @Leathermint for this exquisite artwork.

Our home internet service provider has us as part of a WAN. So far, the only way I've found to access my PC from outside of my home network is through TOR. Would a Static VPN be reachable? I don't want to pay for one to find out. If it does, do you have a recommendation for a good privacy focused VPN provider?

#Bullish day at the post office today. Thanks to @The Bullish ₿itcoiner @SoapMiner
I'm swimming in the shirt. Fingers crossed it shrinks a bit in the wash. Size is a Medium, same as my GM/PV sweatshirt. Maybe order a size down (my fault for not checking the size chart) if you plan to get one. The font and feel are great!
Excited to try the new soaps. They all have a Peppermint hint right now, so I'm letting them air out apart from each other. I can tell that the Orange Clove will probably be my new favorite.
Keep an eye out for a special note coming this weekend on a different surprise parcel I found in the mail last week. @Leathermint

Alright, #Nostr.
Everyday I get closer to running #Linux. I have alot of personal files/folders on my PC (that was updated to Windows 11 via misclick). That being said, I know Linux has a lot of different implementations. I'm looking for one that has security, game performance, and is relatively user friendly.
So, #AskNostr, what is your favorite implementation of Linux and why? That way I've got a starting point in my self-education.
