Which Linux command has the most challenging and confusing syntax to follow even after reading the man page?
If 'Sci-Fi' stands for 'Science Fiction,' what does Wi-Fi mean? 'Wireless Fiction'? In that case, I demand a refund from my ISP! They promised me connection, not fantasy!
>The sexual tension between me and running "sudo rm -rf /*" on this Thinkpad and starting again with a completely different Linux distro is real. What do you mean I'm not supposed to sweep problems under the rug and just install a new distro instead of seeing a therapist? What am I, a Neanderthal?
OpenAI whistleblower found dead in San Francisco apartment: Suchir Balaji, 26, claimed the company broke copyright law. Balaji helped gather and organize the enormous amounts of internet data used to train the startup’s ChatGPT chatbot. Information he held was expected to play a key part in lawsuits against the OpenAI
Me at work: "Don't talk to me until I've had 90 minutes to read all the tech news and comic strips, and two cups of coffee."
On this day in 2004, IBM announced that it would sell its PC division to Lenovo 😟 Since then, quality has gone down for Thinkpad. It is now just following what Apple is doing. IBM had a fully industrial design team for the iconic brand back in the old days. It is sad to see such a legacy ruined by Lenovo image
Sometimes, my followers get upset because I call out "billionaire brats" or Microsoft or OpenAI or Tech Bros for their predatory practices and stealing content without paying to train their shity AI. So today, I'm going to address those who get upset: It is not my job to please you or your masters (emolyers) at "OpenAI," "Microsoft," or "Billionaires." I hope this helps!!!
Experience the freedom of owning your computer and data, free from corporate overlords like Microsoft who steal your data for AI training and have gone batshit crazy with AI. The Linux desktop is not only beautiful, but it also gives you privacy and it's fun! Not to mention, Linux developers aren't going to steal your data to train shitty AI. You are in charge of your system. #linux image
Damn. A Brazilian certificate authority trusted only by Microsoft has issued a presumably-unauthorized certificate for google.com: All security practices in the world are useless if one of the most visited sites such as Google gets a unauthorized TLS certificate issued. How this still exists in 2024 is beyond me.
Friend: What was your first Linux distro? Me: Slackware back in 94. Friend: Did you enjoy installing Slackware? Me: Not really. On my first attempt, I lost my DoS partition. Then I couldn't get X running on. But, yes, apart from that, I loved it. Friend: And you decided to stick around it for the rest of your life? Me: *nervous chuckle* Friend: Well? Me: Why not? I already lost data, and it can't get worst than this. Lmao. So I kept my Linux, and the rest is history.
