I really liked evernote. Worked seamlessly cross-platform, easy sync, good editor, great search function, cross-link/reference notes, support of multiple file types within each note (could add a picture, PDF, excel doc, etc). They kept adding way too many features that I never used (including an AI assistant for seemingly no reason), but I was happy to pay to pay ~$10/mo for the service. But then they went and increased the price to $250/yr (pretty much double), and automatically enrolled me in the new higher price?? That pushed me to finally move everything over to Obsidian + Syncthing. Took me a few hours and a couple back and forths to get it right (first internal note links and then image links had to be fixed), but with the help of Deepseek, the Obsidian vault looks pretty much the same as evernote did and sync across devices seems to be working. So for < $5 in credits I moved my last 10 years of notes and have a note-taking app that's free instead of $250/yr. Good deal. Thank you open source software🙏🏼

Bitcoin is reality. and reality is harsh. if you don't have the entropy protecting your keys, there is no way to save you. Don't trust, verify is not just a slogan, you actually have to DO it yourself OR you risk the consequences (and bitcoin has shown us time and time again that any vulnerability will eventually be exploited) At the same time, it's pretty much impossible not to have SOME trust unless you personally go through the code line by line (which is unfeasible), so you can mitigate that risk with multi-vendor multisig (multisig introduces a whole new list of ways you can foot gun yourself so, again, you must understand each aspect or you will inevitably get rekt)

Funny how unimportant BIP-110 is in the face of a self-custody vulnerability. I’m upset I wasted so much of my time trying to understand both sides of the debate when I could have been focusing my attention on things that actually matter. The next “upgrade” to bitcoin better be quantum resistant signature schemes and not a stupid “spam” filter that doesn’t work and causes a chain split all while onchain fees are 1-2 sat/vB

It’s so ironic that the “best, most secure” hardware wallet couldn’t even get RNG right

Guess I changed my mind on multisig

good video about how much it would cost to run kimi k3 on your own hardware (seems like the answer is around $500k)
