I think my generation and the ones after me are struggling so much with meaning because we don't DO anything. We forgot that you can't just be something because you think/say you are, you actually have to act it out. You will never become a painter if you don't PAINT. You are not an investor if you just click buy/sell buttons on a computer screen (you actually have to analyze financial statements and get to know the company and maybe even TALK to the people who run it). If you write code (or write anything for that matter) all day in a computer, it doesn't MEAN anything until someone else out there uses it (usually to solve some sort of problem in their life). You can't just believe/say that you are an advocate/activist and then you are, you actually have to SPEAK for the people you care about when they can't and STAND UP to people who infringe on the things you care about, even when it is uncomfortable or inconvenient (i.e. in real life, not just on the internet). Posting about Palestine every day on twitter is different than having boots on the ground. Making a powerpoint about climate change is different than building things that make the environment cleaner or blocking things that make the environment dirtier. It is easy with the internet and the digital world to forget what is REAL, but our bodies know what is real, and if we are not DOING real things (things that change the physical/metaphysical world within and around us), then we will struggle to find meaning.
In 2022 I wrote this in my journal: "I spend a lot of time thinking rather than doing... I want to change that." I am doing better but I can still do more.

Should I open my own private practice and only accept bitcoin for payment?
i GM therefore i am
every night an owl lands on top of my apartment around 9PM and just starts "Hooting" for 30 minutes, as if he just woke up and is announcing himself to the world, saying "GM, nobody asked, but here I am, an entity that exists in the world, and I will shout it from the rooftop, I don't need any acknowledgement." It's kind of like what I am doing here on nostr. GN
