Tried to switch to Pixel 8 running graphene OS. After a day or so, realized people were texting me and I was not getting the messages. Learned that Google Messages was the only Android app that supports RCS. Downloaded google play services and google play store, logged into google account (felt like defeating the purpose of graphene). Started getting messages again but family group chat complained so much that pictures were not sending "stacked in groups of 3" and videos were blurry so I ended up just switching back to my old iPhone. I would use signal or simplex but everyone in my network just wants to text straight to my phone number. They don't want to have to download another app, especially if it's just to talk to me and none of their other friends use that app. Whatsapp is probably the app that most people in my network would consider using but I don't want to use that app. Is there a better way?

first time paying with bitcoin at a Square POS. I didnt notice at first so I bought some stuff with my card, then after everyone behind me ordered, I went back to talk to the employee asking if I could try to buy one more thing with bitcoin. She looked at me confused because she didn’t know that was possible, said she hadnt seen anyone do that before. She seemed nervous and thought she needed to do something on the POS terminal but I just tapped the slider in the top left corner of the screen and it pulled up the QR so I payed it with my home lightning node via Zeus, she didnt need to do anything on her end. I showed her the confirmation on my phone and she said her “trepidations” were unwarranted😂 Grist Bakery in Missoula, MT. The cardamom knot was amazing image

Road Trip Vlog #3: Just because I think I'm a good person and people should be able to see that through my actions doesn't mean they will automatically know who I am having never seen or met me before. If people ask me who I am, it's not a question that needs to be met with irritation or defense #vlog

Some small petty complaints from my camping experience, but it led me to wonder: is there a place out there where you don't feel like someone is going to come and tell you that you are doing something wrong? Is there a place that doesn't make you feel like you are living inside a panopticon all the time? A place where you can live and express yourself freely? (and in fairness to Matt, the camp ranger, he did apologize and gave me a recommendation to eat at the Whoa Nellie Deli at the 120 and 395 junction, which was pretty good)

i did dice rolls and passphrase so my single sig was theoretically safe, but a HWW company retirement attack was definitely not in my threat model (an unknown unknown). I loved single sig security/simplicity tradeoff and felt very comfortable with the setup. Setting up multisig was a massive pain in the ass (way more things you have to think about) but now that I know about this threat, I can’t go back. View quoted note →

my to-do lists are becoming nested and spreading all over the place (phone, paper, whiteboard, etc). It’s getting out of hand. I find it hard to believe that I actually have that much stuff to do
